                          My favorite English-language movie.

       I want to share with you the touching story of my favorite movie "Legends of the Fall" (1994), which unfolds the plot about how war, love, betrayal, and the relentlessness of fate change the lives of several people.
       In the state of Montana, there lives a retired colonel with his wife and three sons. Earlier, the colonel served the U.S. government and killed Native Americans in a village. Years later, he changed his mind and grew to love the Native Americans. The colonel's wife, Isabel, returns to Europe, while the young children stay with their father. Living with them are the Native American named One Stab and the mixed-family Dekers with their half-blood daughter. The colonel's middle son, Tristan, spends a lot of time with One Stab, learning to hunt and enjoying being in the forest.
The youngest son, Samuel, goes away to study and returns several years later with his fiancée, Susannah. Soon, World War I begins in Europe. The eldest and youngest sons feel it is their duty to fight for England, although their father thinks differently. Before long, all three sons go off to fight. Tristan goes too, mainly to look after Samuel.

       Suzanne keeps waiting for her fiancé at the colonel's house. At the war, the older son Alfred gets a leg wound, and Samuel dies in front of Tristan. According to a Native American ritual, Tristan cuts out his brother's heart and takes it back home. Right after the ritual, Tristan goes on a revenge spree — he kills two German machine gunners with a knife and scalps them.
After a quick recovery, Alfred comes home and brings Samuel's heart for burial. Tristan mourns his brother's death and wanders the world for a long time. Alfred falls in love with Suzanne, but she rejects him because she likes Tristan more. When Tristan returns, they start living together. But Tristan is still restless. In the end, he leaves to wander again, and Suzanne promises to wait for him. Tristan travels across various countries and continents, sends Suzanne a gold bracelet, but one day manages to write her a short farewell note suggesting she marry someone else.

       When the note reaches Suzanne, it becomes a tragedy for her, and it partially paralyzes the colonel. Suzanne marries Alfred, who started out working on a farm but later became successful and even ran for Congress. A few more years pass, and Tristan returns home — he looks like his longing has gone. He brings gifts for everyone, including the young Isabelle (the Indian daughter of the Deckers). Tristan and Isabelle get married, and they have a son and a daughter. However, during Prohibition, Tristan starts selling alcoholic products, which eventually leads to competitors killing Isabelle. Suzanne, unable to live with husband she doesn’t love, takes her own life, and a hunt begins for Tristan himself. People come to the colonel’s house to kill Tristan, but they die in a battle that Alfred unexpectedly intervenes in. The father forgives his son, and Tristan asks his older brother to take care of his children.

        The epilogue tells that the inconsolable wanderer Tristan lived a long life and 'died a good death' in 1963 — he died in a fight with a bear!
I’m really impressed by this amazing film! The movie is strong, deep, and tragic!
