Fantasy in my life

Today many people of all ages and nationalities prefer reading fantasy. This genre became popular in the middle of the 20th century. I think the reason of fantasy popularity is that it offers escapism from work or school into a different reality. It's not like real life so you can escape into another world for a little while.

I love fantasy fiction because it opens up my mind and my imagination. When I read a fantasy fiction book and it's a good one I can visualize in my mind what is happening in the book. It makes me feel as if I'm in the book experiencing everything the characters are and what they are feeling. It's usually full of adventure not day to day stuff so we escape monotony.

My favourite book is not exactly a book but a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. It’s Harry Potter.

So, a few words about the book.

The idea occurred to the writer in 1990, while she was traveling on a train from Manchester to London. Everything would be fine, but the train made an emergency stop in the middle. Nothing better to do, Rowling began to examine the neighborhood, and by chance, saw a skinny boy with big glasses. Rowling began writing immediately came to London.

The book describes the adventures of young wizard Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

To my mind, Harry Potter is a series both for children and for adults. It teaches us much.

1. It teaches readers that, no matter how bad things get, they put friendship first
2. The characters in Harry Potter all have some quality about them that makes them a great role model.
3. One of the main themes of Harry Potter is to remain courageous no matter what the odds.
4. It is easy to let your imagination run wild when reading the Harry Potter books.
5. It brings the joy of reading to a new generation .

I’d like to finish my presentation quoting one of the characters of the series.

There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us. May be to the child within us… because all of us are dreamers in some way.
