                                     CULTURE  AND   EDUCATION

         No doubt that culture and education play a very important role in our life. They are the most valuable possessions a man can get in his life. In the modern world people are judged not only by what they do but how they do it. Life in the society is impossible without everyday contacts and meetings, so all relations depend on the way people behave and treat each other. Human relations and communication skills are important. That’s why along with education, people should develop cultural issues.

         It is generally agreed that  the word «culture»  has many meanings. One of the most common explanations  refers to the spiritual and material achievements of the humanity. There are many types of culture. For example, folk culture, popular culture, corporate culture, elite culture, etc. They are all closely connected. Folk or national culture is like a habit of people. It is the everyday life and routine of certain  group  of  people. Elite culture is well-developed and many-sided. It is the attitude towards art, music, literature, theatre. Music has always fascinated people. It touches their hearts and makes them laugh or cry. Music can be heard everywhere. There are a lot of wonderful works of famous writers and poets, created a big variety of poems, stories and novels that are read over the world. Theatre is popular kind of arts  too. There are a lot of theatres in Russia. The Bolshoi Theatre and the Maly Theatre are world famous.

         It  is well-known fact that during all the periods of  human  history education ranked high among people. Human progress mostly depended upon well-educated people. We get our knowledge of this world and life through education. Many famous discoveries would have been impossible if people were not interested in learning something. Of course we get education at school. But school lays only the base, the foundation of our education. Here we get only necessary knowledge and after graduating the school we can continue education in the institutes, universities or somewhere else. Not only school makes us educated persons. Reading books and press is also very important. It enriches our outlook, broadens the boundaries of our intellect, offers the opportunities to read the latest news and political discussions. TV also gives us wonderful and effective possibilities for education. Due to mass media we become better informed by watching documentaries, science programs and discussions. It is the principal role of after-school activities to deepen our knowledge in different subjects. Besides regular schools there are a

lot of clubs, where children get education and good habits. There are different groups, where children can succeed in the field they are particularly interested in. Art clubs, drama and history clubs and groups, studying foreign languages, are among them.

           One cannot deny that a person becomes a highly qualified after getting some special education. And professionalism can be reached only through it. Even highly qualified specialists from time to time attend refresher courses to refresh their knowledge. Education develops all sides of human personality, reveals his abilities. Besides, it helps a person to understand himself, to choose  the right way in this world. The civilized state differs from others in the fact that it pays much attention to the educational policy. John Kennedy said: “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education”. But it doesn`t concern only one particular nation. We  know that science and art belong to the whole world. Before them the barriers of  nationality  disappear. So education brings people closer to each other, helps to understand each other better.

         In conclusion  I`d like to say  that all people should be cultured and educated, because it is very useful and important. Cultured and educated persons are always ready to find a good  job, they usually have a bright career. Besides, it is also much better to talk to educated, cultured and extraordinary person. I consider knowledge to be the really great power and  that  is why  we must always increase it and culture and education are our great helpers and friends.
