«My Future Job is a Programmer»

Дисциплина: ОГСЭ.04 Иностранный язык в профессиональной деятельности

Цель: повышение интереса к актуализации раннее изученных знаний по теме «A Profession of a Programmer»

Задачи:- организовать практическую деятельность студентов, направленную на систематизацию и обобщение материала по теме;

-актуализовать употребление лексики по темам: «A Profession of a Programmer» и

« Internet and Modern Life »

Why  you want to be a computer programmer?

In the future, I may enjoy being a computer programmer because I am keen on trying computer techniques and working with computers is always fun and exciting for me.

People with jobs in the career field of IT use computers, software, networks, servers, and other technology to manage and store data. There is growing demand  in various jobs in the field of information technologies nowadays.

It is important to understand that the work of the programmer can be different: some of them work for a small agency, some for a huge company, others are freelance or have their own business. I’d like to work for a big company.

In order to be a successful IT specialist you must possess some skills and personal qualities. The most important ones are the following: being able to think logically, love to solve problems, persistence and patience. A computer programmer must be able to find the most efficient way to solve the problem.

I want my future job be interesting and well-paid. People say that money isn’t everything, but it certainly does help because it gives independence and freedom.  I’d like to combine a good satisfying job with a high paying salary.

3.Translate the exercise into Russian:

The advantages of being an IT specialist are the following:

• relatively high wage level
• growing demand on the labor market
• constant learning;  companies often welcome professional growth of their employees and pay for trainings, conferences and courses
• good working conditions; it is usually quiet and comfortable in an office
• the work is often creative; solving non-standard tasks using wit is exactly what programmers are paid for
• can work remotely; it allows to choose a comfortable place to live and work.

The negative sides are:

• sedentary work in front of computer screen
• the work can be boring
• there is not much communication
• in small projects, you have to be a jack-of-all-trades person

Internet in  Modern Life.

Just a century ago we didn’t even know about computers and the Internet. But today we take them for granted and can’t imagine our life without these inventions. I think that the Internet  is the greatest invention ever and it has made a significant impact on our lives.

Nowadays the Internet is affordable almost for anyone and it connects people all around the world. You can stay in touch with your friends, relatives and colleagues. Our modern life will stop without the net because it helps to make on-line business transactions, manage our bank accounts, pay our gas or electricity bills and send important e-mails, for example.

The Internet is the largest source of information. There are millions of Internet sites storing plenty of useful data about everything: science, history, psychology, sports, fashion, music, cooking and many other subjects. We can also download our favourite movies or songs, listen to radio channels or play games. Learning or practising foreign languages is possible with the Internet too.

The Internet saves our time and money. We can do on-line shopping choosing the desirable thing at the best price. And then we just click “Order the delivery”. By the way, we can also sell various things in the net. We often don’t need to go to the library: surfing the net can easily help us to find and open the book we need. Buying stamps and envelopes isn’t required if you’re going to send an e-mail. It takes just a few seconds to send an instant message by e-mail.

The Internet helps shy people or those with low-esteem to find each other on dating sites. On-line chatting through social networking websites is more comfortable for Internet users with the lack of social skills.

I am sure that the Internet has changed our life for the better. There is only one disadvantage about it: some people become rather addicted to it and spend all days long surfing the net, on-line dating or playing games. Over-using the net can be dangerous because new technology victims start neglecting their families, friends, work and real hobbies.
