Цель: Создание условий для воспитания чувства любви к окружающей среде и ответственности за нее.

Задачи: Формировать знания у учащихся о природе и окружающей среде; развивать коммуникативные умения;воспитывать гражданскую позицию и бережное отношение к окружающей среде.

Teacher : Good morning,everybody!

Today we'll be speaking about our environment.As you know , there are many serious environmental problems we are facing nowadays. There is great concern about wildlife and the future ofour cities, towns and villages.In fact, talking the planet as a whole there is hardly a part of it that humans have not changed : deserts are becoming hotter,arctic ice is melting and wherever you look you can see the ugly footprint of humanity.Let's consider his issue.

                                     Scene 

P1: Ugh!I'm terribly tired.

P2: Where have you been?

P1: Roksana and I have had a long walk round Moscow University.

P2: Did you enjoy it?

P1: It's a lovely place, I liked the alley between the main building at the University and the embankment .One can see various trees there : limes,maples,pines,larches and the jasmine bushes are all white with blossom.

P3: I couldn't imagine Amina knows trees and plants so well.She is a real biologist.

P1: Thank you.I can't say I know much, but I am keen on botany, indeed.

P3: And I'll do physics.Physicists are very iportant in the contemporary world.

P4: Unfortunately, the progress of physics is not that harmless.You shouldn't forget about nuclear bombs , the Chernobyl disster , ozone holes...

P3: We must understand that science itself can't be good or bad.Another thing is how people use its achievements.

P5: It's an interesting world we live in!We fly to other planets and discover old manuscripts.

P6: We create artifical intellect and get to the depths of the ocean.

P2: We release tremendous energies ... and cause global disaster.

P5: We build the tunnel under the Channel "and pollute our beautiful planet."

P3: Yes, when I went with parents to the seaside last summer , I was surprised that the water was not blue but brown with rubbish floating in it.

P6: It's very much the same in other countries, in Russia too.

P2: Besides million of tons of oil are released into the sea every year.

P4: We can only imagine how many seabirds and animals die because of it.

P6: Ozone holes?What is it?

P3: You see, in the atmosphere there is the ozone layer.It protects the Earth from the dangerous by a staff that derosol sprays and regfrigeratons contain-chlorofluorocarbons.

P2: Goodness, I am unable to repeat it!

P5: People will have to take measures because the dangerous rays get through the atnosphere , causing skin cancer and other deseases.

P6: I think people will be able to solve this problem.

P1: Then I must stop using my aerosol spray right now.

P4: Much ought to be done to keep the planet suitable for living.

P3: When in Singapore, I saw a poster which said : Singapore is the Garden City of Asia-keep it clean and green.

P6: I  think we can see such posters in Great Britain too.

P4: Yes, but in Singapore there are rather strict laws behind it.Dropping letter in public places is forbidden.

P6: Well, it is only reasonable , isn't it?

P5: Definitely

P2:  We must all strive for the clean environment.

P3: We all agree , but there is a good saying : you needn't strive for cleanliness, you should take a broom and sweep your street.

P2: OK,OK.Where is my broom? Am I to start sweeping the street just now?

P: Environmental pollutin has become an acute problem all over the world.Get acquanted with the ecological situation in the world.

P: Worldwide , the stinky problem of pollution has grown.More and more factories,cars and trucks add their bad breath to the air.So the battle against air pollution should grow.Because many cities still have dirty air. And many countries are making tougher laws against pollution.Scientists are also looking for ways to make factories and cars run cleaner.

P: Chemicals caled sulfates puff out of coal burning factories around.So, sulfates from one place can fall as acid rain.Scientists are figuring out ways to make coal burn more cleanly and the amount of sulfates in the air is dropping.So less acid rain is falling.

P: A great number of lakes and rivers and other bodies of water are polluted.Companies often dump chemical wastes into water.But scientists are finding a solution to this problem too.

P: Farmers often spray chemicals on crops to protect them against pests.These  chemicals are called pesticides often end up in our food.Pesticides can cause health problems especially for kids.

P: Cars are the world's biggest air polluters as well as trash.Some years ago each person in the United States threw away about four pounds of trash daily.Put it all together and you'd fill 45 000 trash trucks every day!About 1/3 of this waste comes from packaging.

P: Environmental problems are exceptionally acute  in Russia too.For a long time to little attention was paid to the environment. In effort to meet production goals the ministries stinted  on measures to protect the environment from industrial pollution.As a result , about half of the water sources in the country are polluted with industrial or communal waste.In more than a hundred towns and cities with populations of some fifty million, the concentration of harmful substances in the air is over ten times the admissible level.

P: For dozens of years the national economy focussed on large projects,including giant projects in what was called the "transformation of nature". Blunders were committed that caused environmental disasters.Of the acture problems causing public concern the environmental safety of nuclear and hydrolic power engineering is beginning to assume paramount importance.Public anxiety has grown particularly after the Chernobyl disaster.

P:list of serious environmental problems could be continued.

P:In recent years people have become more sensitive towards the environment.Still more public organizators and unofficial environmentalist movements have been established with every passing year.

P:In 1987 a "Green Peace" commission has been set up.It`s main goal is to combine the people`s efforts for peace with the huge and mounting movement for nature conservation.Another area of its work is to set up and strengthen cooperation among environmentalists from many similar organizations abroad.

P:"Travels for Peace and Nature" is the name of another public movement that appeared in Russia some years ago.It concentrates its efforts on theory and practical work.The movement launches all kinds of environmental actions and informs the public of the ways,means and results of this work.

P: Russia is cooperating in the field of environmental protection withe the United States,Canada,Norway,Finland and other countries.Russia and the United States are carrying out joint projects to study and protect the environmental systems of the Arctic and subarctic regions,and also to study some of the natural processes in the permafrost zone.

Teacher:Well,having taken into consideration all mentioned what conclusion can`t you make?What humanity must do?

P:People must lower the concentration of harmful substances in the air of towns and cities.

P:People must protect the environmental from industrial pollution.

P:People must stop the danger of environmental from industrial pollution.

P:People must attract more public attention to environmenyal problems.

P:People must keep the streets of towns tidy and clean.

P:People must solve the problem of communal waste in towns.

P:People must develop international cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

Teacher:Great!That`s it!And if all those things have been done,what will the picture of our future be?

P:The home of the future will be a better place to live in.the car will no longer be the threat to our health that it is today.For example,it will run on hydrogean or a mixture of battery and safer petrol.

P:We will have switched from "fossil fuels" -coal gas and oil - to sources of power which are non-polluting.

P:Factories and plants will not dump wastes into water and there will not be acid rains any more.

P:As a result the world be a great blooming garden with beautiful trees,flowers and animalsliving there .The sky will be blue and sun will be shining.

Teacher: But if we want our planet to be cleaner and safer we have to start to change our ways.Some people argue that it is impossible for an individual to affect major changes , for instance,global  warming and many other things.But saving the world begins at home.So what can be done?

P:We should reuse bags, containers,paper,boxes,and other items.

P:Buy reusable products.

P:Select products with the least wasteful packaging.

P:Buy products that can be recycled and make sure to recycle them.

P:Buy products made of recycled materials.

P:Buy,sell,or donate used goods such clothes ,furniture and appliances.

P:Make sure your water faucets are turned off when you are not using them.

P:Be craetive-look for oppotunities to reduce trash!

Teacher:Children ,now you understand that you have to work hard to protect the environment.Everyone should do his best to clean lakes and rivers from trash.You can also plant trees and bushes .It is necessary for all people to recycle cans,paper and glass!

In conclusion let us sing /"We Shall Overcome"/
