Цикл уроков «Бурятия» определяется необходимостью усилить обучающий и воспитательный эффект при обучении иностранному языку с учетом регионального компонента, т.е. использованием краеведческих материалов, отражающих природные, национальные, культурно-исторические и языковые особенности региона.
Данный цикл уроков позволяет научить школьника говорить на английском языке о том, что его окружает, что ему близко и дорого с детства, чем он горд и готов поделиться со своим потенциальным партнером по межкультурной коммуникации. Культуроведческое наполнение данного курса помогает учащимся ближе познакомиться с культурой, историей, традициями и обычаями народов Республики Бурятия, а так же с уникальной природой. Его можно использовать в учебных программах, а также в учебных кружках.

Цели:
Практическая:
1. Формировать и совершенствовать языковые и речевые навыки учащихся по теме «Buryatia»;
2. Развивать у учащихся умения чтения с полным и общим охватом содержания в рамках изучаемой тематики;
3. Совершенствовать навыки монологической и диалогической речи по теме на уровне микромонолога и микродиалога.
Образовательная: Расширить общий филологический кругозор, расширить диапазон лингвистических знаний за счет усвоения нового лексического материала по теме и введения грамматического материала (правила написания артикля “the” с географическими названиями.)
Развивающая: развивать психические процессы: память, языковая догадка, воображение.
Воспитательная: Воспитывать у учащихся умения сотрудничества со сверстниками в разных ситуациях; воспитывать этические чувства, доброжелательность, отзывчивость; привитие уважительного отношения к своему родному краю.
Урок 1 Тема: Geographical position of Buryatia
Задачи: познакомить учащихся с новым лексическим материалом по теме «Geographical position of Buryatia» (occupy, border on, population, territory, consist of, river, lake, mountain chain, climate, abound, flow into, flow uot of, cristal-pure water, extreme continental, pearl) и тренировать учащихся в их применении до уровня репродукции.

Buryatia occupies a great territory of Eastern Siberia. Its territory is 350000 km². It consists of 22 districts. The republic borders on Mongolia in the south, the Republic of Tuva and the Irkutskaya oblast in the west, Chita in the east. The population of Buryatia is multinational and is over 1 million people.
The mountain ranges intermingle with steppes and taiga which abound in wildlife. Mountainous Buryatia spreads around 70% of lake Baikal, the largest, deepest lake in the world with cristal – pure water. It’s the republic pearl. The Barguzin and Hamar – Daban mountain chains are sure to be found there. But the most famous are the Sayans with the highest peak Munku-Sardyk.
The rivers of Buryatia are of no great value as waterways. The longest are the Selenga, Uda, Barguzin. 336 rivers flow into the Baikalbut only the Angara flows out of it. Buryatia’s climate is an extreme continental. The heat of the summer gives ways to the polar cold of the winter when frosts reach 45 degrees bellow zero.

The national flag
The flag of the Buryat Republic has 3 colours blue, white and yellow. The colours of represent the blue of the sky, the whiteness of pure heart, and represent eternity. The traditional Buddhist faith of the buryats is also represented by the colour yellow.
The state insignia of the Buryat Republic
This is insignia of the Buryat Republic. At the top of the insignia there is Golden Soyombo (Moon, Sun, Fire). Golden Soyombo is a symbol of eternal life. In the centre of circle you can see, blue white waves of Baikal, summits of the mountains. They are represent spiritual and geographical symbols of Buryatia. At the bottom of the insignia there is a blue ribbon. It is called Khadak, a symbol of hospitality, with the name of the republic in the Buryat and Russian languages.
