Используется, когда действие происходит непосредственно в момент речи . На это могут указывать контекст или такие слова, как: now (сейчас), at the moment (в текущий момент), at present (в настоящее время). Sally is doing her homework at the moment. Салли сейчас делает домашнее задание.

Употребление Present Continuous Указание на процесс, происходящий непосредственно в момент разговора: The doctor is conducting an operation now. Врач сейчас проводит операцию. Описание характерных свойств человека , часто с негативной окраской: Why are you always interrupting people? Почему ты вечно перебиваешь людей? He is always shouting at me. Он всегда на меня орет . Запланированное действие в будущем , часто с глаголами движения: We are landing in Heathrow in 20 minutes. Мы приземляемся в Хитроу через 20 минут.

Утвердительное предложение Подлежащее to be+V+ing (Participle I ) . To be в настоящем времени имеет три формы: am – 1 лицо , ед . ч . (I am shaving.) is – 3 лицо , ед . ч . (He is reading.) are – 2 лицо ед. ч. и все формы мн. ч. (They are sleeping.) I am playing . We a re playing . Y ou are playing . Y ou are playing . He / she / it is playing. T hey are playing .

Present Continuous , как правило, НЕ УПОТРЕБЛЯЕТСЯ с: глаголами эмоционального состояния ( to wish – желать, to desire – желать, to love – любить ), глаголами мыслительной деятельности ( to agree – соглашаться, to believe – верить, to remember – помнить, to think – считать/полагать * ), глаголами ощущения ( to hear- слышать * , to see – видеть * , to taste –иметь вкус * , to smell -пахнуть * ), группой глаголов обладания, отношения ( to be * – быть, to consist – состоять, to belong – принадлежать .

При образовании причастия настоящего времени важно знать следующие правила : Если глагол заканчивается на непроизносимую –е , то она опускается: to driv e – driving to giv e – giving Если глагол оканчивается на согласный после ударного слога, согласный удваивается (кроме y,w,x) : sit − si tt ing to stop – sto pp ing to forget – forge tt ing Если глагол заканчивается на -l , перед которым стоит гласный, то -l всегда удваивается (в американском варианте данное правило не соблюдается). to travel – trave ll ing to fulfil – fulfi ll ing Если глагол заканчивается на -iе , то -iе меняется на -у : to lie – l y ing to die – d y ing
