Topic:  «  The   Environment .»

Objeсtives:   1.  To  revise   the   material   of  the  topic.

2. To  develop  speaking , listening,  reading  and  discussing  skills.

Equipment:   1. Tape- recorder  and  the  recording  of  the  song

                          « Green   Fields «.

                      3. Textbooks .

                      4. Workbooks  № 2.

                      5. Slogans :  « Kill  nothing  but   time» , « Leave  nothing  but  

                                            footprints , « Take  nothing  but  pictures»  on  the

                                            blackboard.

1. Greeting.      Glad  to  see you  healthy , happy  and  wise!

Is  anybody  absent ?   Who  is  ill?

Now  we  start  our  lesson.   We  are  going  to  revise  the  material  of  the  unit  «  The  Environment «.  Then  we  are  going  to  read  the  text ,  to  speak  on  the  topic ,  to  listen  to  some  projects  and  to  discuss.

2. What  is  our  home?   Will  you  listen  to  the  project   and  you`ll    catch  the  main  idea  and  then  you  will  answer  the  question.

P 1   will   tell   us  his/ her   project «  Our  home «.    

What  is  our  home?   Earth   is  our   home.

3. Listening  and  singing.     (  Tape – recorder  )

Will  you  listen  to  the   song  and  sing  along.   Open  your  books  on  page    132  Ex. 2   « Green   Fields «.

    The  song  is  very  interesting,  isn`t  it ?   What  is  it  about ?

      Yes ,  sure.   It`s  about  our  home.

4.   Speaking  ,  listening   and   discussing.

 I`ve  got  some  questions  to  you.     Let`s   answer   them  and  discuss.

1)  What  are  the  most  important   ecological  problems   in  the  world  nowadays ?

     P2    As  far   as  I  know   they  are :

1. Air, water , soil  pollution.
2. Acid  rain.
3. Ozone  depletion.
4. Greenhouse  effect.
5. Deforestation.
6. Animals  extinction.

We  have  already  discussed  a  lot  of  ecological  problems .  Let`s  speak   about  the   wildlife.

2)There  are  a  lot  of  extinct  animals.  We  have  never  seen  them  and  we  will  never  see  them  because  they   are  dead.

P3  will  represent   his/ her  project   about  a  DODO.

3)   Let`s  watch  and  learn  some   information  about  other  extinct  species.

The words  are written  on the  blackboard.  The  pupils  repeat   them after  the  teacher :  T-Cl ,  P 1, P 2, P 3.

4)There  are  many  other  animals  under  threat  of  extinction.   They  became  endangered.

P4   will  represent   her/ his  project  about   the  Javan   rhinoceros.

P5   will  tell  us  about  the  golden  hamster.

5)  Are  there  any  organizations  to  protect   the   environment  and  the  wildlife?

 P6   Yes,  of  course,  there  are  some  organizations  that  protect  the  environment  and   wildlife.   My  project  is  about  Greenpeace .

5.   Reading.

Now   let`s  read  the  text  and  find  out  some  information.

Take  your  workbooks  № 2  , please.   Open   them  on  page  11 Ex. 9

« Acid  Rain «.   Read  the  text   and  complete  the  sentences after  it.

               (  Time  for  doing   the Ex. is   2-3  minutes )

 P7   will  read   the  completed  sentences.

Do   you  agree  with  her/ his  answer?    O.K.   Let`s  go  on  working.

 6.  Listening ,  watching  and  discussing .   I C T  ( № 21,  22, 23, 24, 25,26).

  What   should  we do  and   shouldn`t  do  to  protect    the  environment?

  Maybe  nothing ?
