Mass Media.

       The mass media in the 21st century plays a very important part in our lives. Every day we read newspapers and magazines, listen to radio, watch TV and surf the Internet.

        Newspapers are especially important nowadays. There are newspapers for professionals, for businessmen, for children and teenagers, for men and women, for sports fans. A 

        The main source of news for millions of people is television. With its help we can see everything with our own eyes. It is the window on the world which helps to “travel” all over the world. B  It helps us to relax after a hard day’s work. There are always many programmes on TV: news and sport programmes, talk shows and TV games, documentaries and feature films, concerts and theatre performances.

        C We watch hits where people are killed before our very eyes. D 

      Nowadays there is a difficult situation with TV. E Especially it influences on children. They don’t read books, they move less, speak less and they even think less.

      Many people prefer the radio. It is good to listen to it in the car, or in the open air, or when you do something about the house. You can listen to all kinds of music and to know all the news. But music shouldn’t be very loud. I

       The Internet has recently become another important source of information. Many users spend up to 40 hours a week on the Internet. It is not good. But on the other hand you can find a lot of useful information there.

  • I read a lot of newspapers and magazines. It makes me feel better, it helps me to know all important events and news.
  • I watch television for many hours a day. While doing it I can learn a lot about the life style in other country. So it’s the opportunity to travel without wasting money.
  • I’m fond of listening to music on the radio. I can hear a lot of good music and interesting info on the radio, while, for example, doing my homework or sth else.
  • I can’t live without the Internet and I spend much time on different sites. You can receive any information you like, you can use it for preparing homework, for example, or watch the new film.
  • I prefer spending my free time outdoors or going on for sport than watching TV, reading newspapers or listening to the radio. I think that the liking for mass media is a waste of time. It’s also not good for our health, especially for our eyes.
