Pupils, today we are going to continue our talking about different tenses. The topic of our lesson is «Would you like...?»  Our main task is to revise and compare Present Perfect, Past Simple, Past Progressive.

Children, as usual let's begin with a phonetic exercise. Today we will practice sounds [ θ ],  [ ð ].

Listen and repeat after me [ θ ], [ θ ],  [ θ ]. Well.

[ ð ], All together [ ð ], [ ð ].  Repeat these sounds one by one, please. Excellent.

And now repeat following words in chorus:  three, thousand, that, thirtieth. Thank you.

А теперь давайте вспомним какими буквами на письме мы обозначаем эти звуки? Верно, перепишите себе с доски буквосочетание Th=[ θ ], и  Th=[ ð ].

Right now we shall pass over to your home task. But first of all I want to remind you, that we met a new geographical name at the previous lesson. That's why right now I'll tell you some interesting information about York, as I had promised.

Listen to me and look at the screen.

York is one of the most beautiful cities of great Britain. It is situated in North Yorkshire, a former county of England. This city is famous for its beauty, glorious history, chocolate factories, the National Railway Museum and its Viking Centre. By the way, York is the home of KitKat.

Ребята, а теперь  скажите, пожалуйста, почему в 1 случае  мы употребили Present Perfect, а во 2,3 – Past Simple.

Верно, давайте ещё раз повторим эти различия.

1)  В 1 – нас интересует сам факт, важность события.

2) А во 2,3 – нас интересуют уже детали и появляется специальное вопросительное слово.

Именно поэтому там мы используем уже Past Simple.

Pay attention to the particle TO after the verb been.

Children, let's recollect our rules.

When we talk about things that happened in the past, we can use several different tenses. What tenses?
