Pilot: Ladies and gentlemen, this is the pilot speaking! I would like to welcome you aboard Aeroflot Flight 30, non-stop to Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. We are currently flying at an altitude of 10000 meters. Our flight time today will be approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. We will arrive in Moscow at about 12.35. If there is anything we can do to make your trip with us more comfortable, please let us know. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the flight. Thank you for flying Aeroflot.

Stewardess 1: Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention, please? The pilot has turned off the “Fasten Seatbelt” sign. But, when you are in your seat, please keep your seatbelts fastened at all times. Thank you. And now let me introduce myself. My name is ________ and I’m a stewardess. And this is ____________,our 2nd stewardess.

Stewardess2: Hello, nice to meet you.

Stewardess 1: There are representatives of many countries among our passengers. Let them introduce themselves to you.

German: My name is Fritz Muller (Marta ). I’m from Germany.

Stewardess2: Have you ever been to Moscow?

German: Oh, no. This will be my first visit to Moscow.

Stewardess2: What would you like to see in Moscow?

German: I’m an artist and I want to go to the Tretyakov Gallery. I know that the gallery was founded in 1856 by Pavel Tretyakov who collected the works of Russian artists. And I interested in Russian Art very much.

Stewardess 1: Me too. In the Tretyakov Gallery you can also see a beautiful exhibition of Russian icons. There is a wonderful collection of Russian art of the early 20th century. That’s why I advise you to spend some days there.

German: O.K.

Stewardess2: What’s your name and where are you from?

Scotsman: My name is Robert McAllister (Mary). I’m from Scotland.

Stewardess2: Why are you flying to Moscow?

Scotsman: I’m a musician. I want to visit Moscow’s Conservatoire and Gnesin’s Institute. I think that Moscow is famous for its musicians. I would like to visit the Bolshoi Opera House and to listen to some operas by Russian composers. I also would like to visit Tchaikovsky’s Concert Hall.

Stewardess 1: You are from Canada, aren’t you?

Canadian: Yes, I’m.  I’m a coach in ice-hockey. In my opinion, Russia and especially Moscow is a centre of sport. There are different sporting societies and clubs in Moscow. A great number of world records have been set by Russian sportsmen. I’d like to get acquainted with some of the most famous hockey players and invite them to take part in the competitions in our country in June.

Stewardess2: And what about you?

An Indian: My name is John (Liz) Green. I’m an Indian.

Stewardess 1: Why are you flying to Moscow?

An Indian: I’m flying to Moscow because I want to see its sightseeings. I know that the heart of Moscow is Red Square. People say it’s very beautiful. And I have never seen it. I also know that the Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are masterpieces of ancient Russian architecture. I want to visit them too.

Stewardess 1: You are from China, aren’t you?

Chinese: Yes, indeed. I’m from China.

Stewardess 1: Why are you going to Moscow?

Chinese: You see I’ve just finished school and I would like to go on with my study in Moscow. I heard that Moscow is the centre of Russian science. There are many institutes and universities in Moscow. I know that Moscow State University on the Vorobjovy Hills is the heart of the educational system of Russia. It is famous all over the world and I would like to enter it.

Stewardess 1: Good luck!

Frenchman: My name is Paul (Lusie) Martin. I’m from France. I’m an architect and I want to see the architecture of Moscow. I would like to see the old buildings in the centre of Moscow to have some new ideas for my future projects. I think this trip to Moscow will be very useful for me.

Stewardess 2: I hope so! I wish you luck!

Stewardess 1: We have already introduced ourselves to you. As you can see, although we live in different parts of our planet, we understand each other very well, because we know English. Today English has become the world’s most important language. It is the language of politics, business, trade, science, culture, sport, love and friendship. I think young people should learn it.

Stewardess 2: I agree with you.

German: Me too!

Scotsman: I’m of the same opinion!

Canadian: I quite agree with you!

Chinese: That’s just what I was going to say!

Stewardess 2: And what about you?

Stewardess 1: Ladies and gentlemen, our plane is going to land at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. Fasten seatbelts, please. The temperature outside is about 15 degrees above zero. The crew of our plane parties with you. Have a good time in Moscow and let all your dreams come true! By the way, we recommend you to visit the English-language festival in Svetlograd. I think it will be very interesting for you.

Stewardess 2: Attention, please. Svetlograd is broadcasting.
