Modern life is impossible without travelling. People can travel by air, by train, by sea or by road. Almost all people are fond of travelling. People travel every day either on business or for pleasure. There are various means of travelling.

People like to travel by car…. Because it is the most convenient way for a family. You can stop anywhere ,you wish, and spend as much time as you like at any place. It is very interesting to see new places, other towns and countries.

Some people like to travel by train. Speed, comfort, and safety are the main advantages of trains.

Travelling by train is slower than by plane. Of course, travelling by air is the fastest and the most convenient way, but it is the most expensive, too.

People enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It is always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different music. I like to spend my holidays visiting museums, art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurant. We take camera and take pictures. There are sights of a city. The best way to study geography is to travel.

Take the blanks, please. Don’t forget to fill them in before the plane lands. I’m sure, that you’ll enjoy your flight. You will have a chance to listen to the radio, some good music for relaxation, to watch through transmission from New York about travel agencies, speak about traveling. Traveling is extremely important nowadays. Two hundred years ago most people never traveled further than a few kilometers. Nowadays millions of people travel long distances abroad. There are words of wisdom: “The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page.”

The United States of America The USA is one of the largest countries in the world. The population of the USA is about 250 million people. The USA has 50 states. Its capital is Washington, D.C. (the District of Columbia). Was named in honour of the first president, George Washington. Washington is one of the most beautiful and unusual cities in the USA.

Washington looks different from other cities. No building in the city may be more than 40 meters tall. The Capitol is the tallest building in Washington. This is where laws are made. The White House is home of every president of the United States.

New York City is a city in the southern end of the state of New York, and is the most populous city in the United States of America. New York City is a global economic center, with its business, finance, trading, law, and media organizations influential worldwide. The city is also an important cultural center, with many museums, galleries, and performance venues. Home of the United Nations, the city is a hub for international diplomacy.
