• Yes, you’re right. Today we’ll remember everything we know about British festivals, we’ll watch a film and learn something new about traditions of celebrating holidays in Britain.

• It’s  13th February.
• St. Valentine’s Day.
• Students say the names of the festivals.

1. Актуализация знаний.

1. Look at the board and guess what festival it is. (презентация с фотографиями праздников)

2. Now try to guess what is happening in these pictures. (арест  Гай Фокса,  Рождество, Масленица)

3. Have you ever heard this song? When do they sing it? (звучит шотландская песня “Auld Lang Syne”)

Maybe you’re right, maybe you’re wrong. We’ll see it a bit later. ☺

2. Активизация ранее изученной лексики. (Фронтальная работа)

1. Look at the list of different activities! Read aloud please!

2. Now find the activities that people don’t usually do at festive time.

Now let’s turn to our pictures discussed at the beginning of the lesson. I hope you can describe what is happening in those photos.

2. Игра на отработку общих вопросов и закрепления лексики.

Let’s play “yes/no” game. I’ll divide you into 2 groups. The 1st group gets a card with the name of a festival, the 2nd one ask yes/no questions to find out what holiday 1st group have.

Учитель делит класс на 2 группы. Одна группа получает карточку с названием или картинкой праздника. Другая группа задает вопросы до тех пор, пока не угадает название. Учитель напоминает, как задавать общие вопросы и отвечать на них.

3. Персонализация. ( Применение полученных знаний и умений относительно себя, через призму своего жизненного опыта).

What are the most popular holidays and festivals in our country? What festivals are celebrated in your family? What festival do you like best of all and why? How do you celebrate it?

4. Обучение монологическому высказыванию  с использованием  “mind map”.

Now boys and girls, imagine that you are going to an international congress where you’ll tell about Russian holidays. Let’s think altogether what information should be mentioned in your stories.

 Учитель рисует на доске диаграмму с помощью учеников. Учащиеся сами высказывают предложения, какая информация необходима для описания русского праздника.

Who wants to try to tell us about your favourite holiday?

5. Домашнее задание.

So, your home task is to prepare a good presentation in Power Point (with photos and a text) about your  favourite festival.

6. Рефлексия и выставление оценок за урок.

Now the last task for today. Read the sentences to

yourself and tick the correct ones.
