Little Raccoon and the thing in the Pool

1st part

Little Raccoon: Mummy, mummy  Am I big enough?

Mummy: Let’s see. Well, yesterday you were before this mark and now…Oh! You have grown an inch.

L.R: Hooray! Well, if I'm so big,  why don't you let me go to the pond alone?

M: Oh, my little raccoon, it's far away.

 L.R: So, I'm big, too.

M: well, ok. The moon will be full and bright today. Little Raccoon, you should go alone to the fast stream and bring  some crayfish for dinner.

L.R: Hooray! I'll catch you crayfish like you've never eaten before. Like this! (shows). And like this!(shows).

M: Listen to me carefully. Go until you reach the pond. There you will see a big tree that is thrown over the pond. Follow it to the other side. This is the best place to catch some crayfish. Put on a scarf and take a basket.

L.K: Yeah.

M: Well, run.

(he runs)

M: Run my little, brave baby.

2nd part

Baby Raccoon’s song

I 'm big now .Hooray!

I'm going to the stream away!

It means I'm not a coward at all!

I'm not afraid of anything after all!

R: Who said "Ap-chee"?

Voice: Who asked the question?

(The raccoon looks behind the bushes)

Raccoon: Hey, who are you?

Porcupin: It’s me. And you are a Little Raccoon, as I understand-a-ap-chee!

Raccoon: Be healthy!

 Oh! Hello, Uncle Porcupine!

Porcupine: Don't be sick, dear baby.

Raccoon: You didn't guess, I'm not a baby anymore, I've already grown up!

Porcupine: It is clear! Ap-chee.

Raccoon: Be healthy!

Porcupine: Thanks, but my health is poor! I caught a cold. I have a sore throat.

Raccoon: How did you do that?

Porcupine: This is a very sad story.

The Porcupine's song.

My needles are very sharp,

Everyone is afraid of them, even wolves.

Only rain is not afraid of me

  I'm soaked through under it.

Chorus: Oh! Oh, oh, oh, oh!

I took off my fur coat and began to dry it

The wind began to circle above me

And it blew me off. And

My throat, ears, and body became ill.

Oh! Ap-chee!

Raccoon: Be healthy!. I don't  know how to help you. I have an idea. Take my scarf, please. It's warm.

Is it warm?

Porcupine: It’s warm! Thank you, my dare Raccoon. I would like to talk with you, I like talking… But it's getting late, go home my dare Raccoon. As people say – work done, have you fun.

Raccoon: I still have a lot to do. I'm going to the fast stream!

Porcupine: Where are you going?

Raccoon. To the fast stream!

Porcupine: Are you alone? Aren't you scared, Baby Raccoon? You know that you haven’t got such things as I have, ap-chee! I have sharp and long needles.

Raccoon: Why should I be afraid of something? Goodbye! Don't be sick! (runs away)

Porcupine: And you don't be sick. Hm, alone?

(Crawls into the bushes)

PICTURE 3

Hare: Ugh, I'm completely confused! Let's start from the beginning. So, I have 6 cabbages, 15 carrots. Well, let’s think…6 ears of corn. Well…Ugh, I forgot how much came from adding cabbage and carrots! Let's start from the beginning!

15 carrots plus 6 cabbages is …(he notices that one carrot is missing)

I didn't understand! Where did another carrot escape? (looking for,) So, I'll never count my reserves!

The fat hare’s song.

Stocks plus counting,

It enough for a whole mountain!

But we can’t count  every year

Everything disappears into nowhere.

Chorus:

Carrots and cabbage

A tasty rich baggage

And corn is the first sort

Is it a thief here or not!

Stocks plus counting,

But I am not a lucky mountain

While I'm counting here,

Everything disappears there.

Chorus:

Carrots and cabbage

A tasty rich baggage

And corn is the first sort

Is it a thief here or not!

Raccoon: Hi!

Hare: Ah-ah!!!! (trying to escape)

Raccoon: Hey, wait! It's me, Baby Raccoon!

Hare: Why are you scaring me? I thought you were a thief!

Raccoon: Who?

Hare: It is a disaster. A thief has appear and he steals my vegetables!

Raccoon: Well! (examined all hare’s stocks)

Hare: Well, well! What? At this place a carrot was lying 3 minutes ago, no 2 minutes ago. And now it has disappear!!!

Raccoon: (Sniffing the place where the carrot was lying). Really, it was lying.

Hare: Hm! I was right! Hey, thief, come on… say the truth! You should be ashamed of yourself, thief!

Raccoon: I'm afraid that he won't appear.

Hare: Why do you think so?

Raccoon. What's in your hand?

Hare: (examing) I don't know. Not sure…But I think they are leaves..

Raccoon: That's right, these are leaves. Carrot’s leaves.

Hare: Carrots. (comparing carrot’s leaves with stocks). Right. And

what does it mean?

Raccoon: It means that you ate the carrot. You. And there are not any thieves here.

Hare: How? Ay-ay-ay. I'm completely crazy with this Math. I steal my carrots from myself.

Raccoon: What problems with Mathematics do you have? Can I help you?

Hare: Well, if you're not in a hurry, help me, please! Well, 14 carrots plus 6 cabbages… Added?

Raccoon: Yeah!

Hare: plus 6 ears of corn. It will be...

Raccoon: You forgot some oil.

Hare: What?

Raccoon: (Licking his lips) Add carrots then add cabbages and corn, pour some oil. And you will get the great salad.

Hare: I thought a number should be here!

Raccoon: The number is 26. And the salad.

Hare: 26 and salad. Right. Well done, Baby Raccoon, thank you.

Go away, I’ll manage from here.

The raccoon has left.

Hare: Hey, wait, you went the wrong way. Your home is there (Showing in

the other side)

Raccoon: And I'm not going home. I'm going to the fast stream!

Hare: (surprised)Are you going to the fast stream alone!

Raccoon: Yeah. I'm going to catch crayfish for dinner.

Hare: Are you afraid, Baby Raccoon? You know that  you have not got strong paws and can’t run fast like me.

Raccoon: I'm not afraid!

I 'm big now .Hooray!

I'm going alone to the stream!

I never go away!

And I am not afraid of him!

Picture 4.

The monkey. I am tired! (jumping on the rope)

The monkey: It is boring (drawing and jumping)

The monkey: I am tired. It is boring too.

The bored monkey’s song.

Oh, how boring, what should I do?

I've already done everything in the morning

Singing, running, jumping

And  I am not tired.

Chorus: My energy is boiling.

It's calling me forward.

My big energy

makes me crazy sometimes.

Oh, I am sad and want to cry!

I've already played the ball.

I've been hammering coconuts,

But I am not tired again.

Chorus: My energy is boiling.

It's calling me forward.

My big energy

makes me crazy sometimes.

Oh, someone's coming! Well! That will be some entertainment!

Raccoon: They are so naughty and ask stupid questions “Are you scared of? Are you scared of? And why should I be afraid of?

(He steps into the circle and the monkey cuts the rope).

The monkey: I’ve got it!

Raccoon: I didn't bite anyone.

The monkey. I know, I said it without any reason. What's your name?

Raccoon: I am little Raccoon.

The monkey: I see. And I'm Mimi. I am the monkey.

Raccoon: Do you always meet everyone using such traps.

Monkey. No, I don’t.  You are the only who have met with my traps. Just imagine, there aren’t any guests today. It’s so boring. Let’s play.

Raccoon: Actually, I'm in a hurry. I have some tasks.

The monkey: Hm! Everyone has different tasks. You have a task. She has a task. They have a task. And I'm only a slacker.

Raccoon: I'm sorry, I didn't want to offend you.

The monkey: No, no, no.  Little Raccoon, please, come up with something unusual.

Raccoon: What do you like the most?

The monkey: I like swinging on the vines, skipping, playing hopscotch, ball, knocking down bananas and coconuts, making funny faces...

Raccoon: Wait-wait…

The monkey: But I've already done all these things today and I am tired of it. Tasks! Tasks! Tasks!!! Oh, I have a great idea! Let’s exchange our tasks. Your task will be mine and you will come up with another task.

Raccoon: What?

The monkey: Let’s exchange tasks! By the way, what tasks do you have?

Raccoon: I'm going to the fast stream! It's on the other side of the pond.

The monkey: Oooooh! No, I don't like your task at all. That would be better if I stayed as a slacker. Are you afraid of Him?

Raccoon: Who should I be afraid of?

The monkey: It is a creature who sits in the pond. I'm afraid of Him!

Raccoon: In the pond?

The monkey: Well, everyone knows about him. Are you afraid of him?

Raccoon: Well, I'm not afraid!

The monkey: Why, he's so, so...

Raccoon: Which one?

A monkey:  He is huge with large ears, long arms and huge tail! Oh-oh-oh!

Raccoon: I don’t believe you. Is he really so scary?

Monkey: Yes, yes he is.

Raccoon: I'm going anyway. Maybe, he ran away?

The monkey: No, no, he's always there. He lives there!

Raccoon: I'll try to get through.

The monkey: I... I... I'll go with you. May be I’ll help you… Oh!

(And two friends go to the pond)

The monkey: Be Quiet!

Raccoon: Ok, ok!

(They went  out to the shore of the pond)

The monkey: Look! It is the log there.

Raccoon: I see.

The monkey: Oh, Baby Raccoon, I'm so afraid for you! My fear is so strong that I am ready to run away.

Raccoon: (Giving the basket)Hold it please!

The monkey:  Maybe you won't go.

Raccoon: No, no, I'm not a coward, I'm big enough.

The monkey: Well, let’s go! You will go… and I'll be afraid for you.

Raccoon: Ok!

(The raccoon takes a step towards the log)

Oh!

(The raccoon takes another step towards the log)

Oh, oh!!

(The raccoon takes another step towards the log again)

Oh, oh, oh!!!

Raccoon: Mimi, Be quiet! Maybe he is sleeping there, and you'll wake him up.

The monkey: Ok, I will be afraid  quietly (whispering)Oh! Oh, hey!

(The raccoon stood near the log)

Raccoon: I need to cross it. I need to cross it.

(He stood on a log)

Raccoon:  I don't want to think about who's sitting in the pond. I won’t look into the pond

I won't (takes a step on the log). I won't, (takes another step). I won’t (but he stopped and looked into the pond, and someone was sitting there). Oh, Mimi, he's really there!

The monkey: Of course, I am sure that he is there!

Raccoon: He, he... is looking at me!!

Monkey: Show him a face, maybe he'll be offended and run away.

(The raccoon made a face)

Raccoon: He made a face too. Oh, oh, he is so scary! A-a-a!!!

(the Raccoon went away)

The monkey: Here, run here!!

Raccoon: Oh, oh!

(A Hare and a Porcupine ran)

Porcupine: What? What's wrong, Baby Raccoon? We heard your “Apchi”!

All together: Be healthy!

Porcupine: Thank you....We heard a scream and hurried to help.

Hare: What happened?!

Monkey: What happened?!!!The creature,  who lives in the pond, lost his conscience and  scared our Little Raccoon

Raccoon:  He made a face, it is an awful face…

Porcupine: The creature who lives...

Hare: ... in a pond. I saw him too. It's not pleasant. He has such huge ears, legs like an elephant..

Porcupine: And a fur coat like a bear.

A monkey: And a long, long tail

Raccoon: And what should we do?

The monkey:  I don't know. I do not know what to do. I don't know.

Porcupine: Well…

Hare:  A good calculation is needed here. Well, what we have...

A monkey: We have the creature who lives in the pond!

The hare: He is the first!

(Pause)

And that's all?

The monkey: That’s all!

Hare: It’s not enough.

Porcupine: But it's so scary.

Hare: I suggest that we should teach that creature who lives in a pond.

Porcupine: We should  frighten him!

The monkey: You are right, but how?

Hare: I came up with idea! Please, take a cabbage. You will come up and swing at him. No, it is not a good idea, the creature can take it away from you! May be, he likes cabbages too…

Porcupine: Everybody likes cabbages.

The monkey: And I do.

Hare: The stone ! Take a stone and show Him that you have a stone.

Monkey:  And say- “I will hit you.”

Porcupine: And will he be scared?

(The monkey takes a stone coming to the Porcupine and swings)

The monkey: Now I’ll hit you!

Porcupine: Oh!

The monkey: I think he'll be scared.

Hare: Do you understand everything?

Raccoon: Yeah.

Porcupine: Well, go our brave Raccoon.

The monkey:  Go, go.

Hare: And we... will... be here.

Raccoon: Yeah, I'm coming.

(The raccoon took a stone and went to the pond)

Raccoon: Maybe, He has already gone?

Raccoon:  No, He didn't gone.

Raccoon: I’ll hit you!! A-a-!!

(he ran from the log to his friends)

The monkey: What’s wrong?! What’s wrong?!

Raccoon: He has a stone twice as big !!!

Porcupine: It’s awful! What is going on?! Ap-chee!

All: Be healthy!

Porcupine: Thanks. The creature who lives in the pond has already terrorized the whole forest.

Hare:  Yes! Hey, you, come out and be ashamed of yourself!

The monkey:  He won't come out. He lives there.

Porcupine: It is unbelievable! We…, apchi!

All: Be healthy!

Porcupine:  Thanks. We shouldn’t forget about him. We have to do something.

The monkey:  What?

Hare: Let’s think.

(THINKING)

Porcupine: Maybe (making a loop)??? Well, no, no, no…!

(Pause)

The monkey: I came up with a brilliant idea!!!! Hurray, hurray… I came up with an idea!

Hare: What?

Porcupine: What?

Raccoon: What?

The monkey: I changed my mind! I came up with an idea and changed my mind! It happens sometimes.

Hare: Listen, Baby Raccoon. Did you threaten the creature who sits in the pond with this stone?

Raccoon: Of course!

Hare:  But it's a very small stone, isn't it?

The monkey: And it's not a stone at all, it's a very little stone.

Porcupine: The creature wasn't scared with this little stone! For example, I wouldn't scared too!

The monkey:  And he wasn't afraid of this little stone. I am not afraid of this stone too.

Hare:  It is clear. He wasn’t afraid of this stone and that's all.

The monkey: Why did you take this stone?

Raccoon: I didn’t want to throw this stone, I wanted to warn him.  And I didn't think about the stone’s size.

The monkey:  Well, he didn't think. And we should think now.

Raccoon:  Excuse me.

Porcupine: A stick!

Raccoon: A stick?!

A porcupine: Listen to me! He should take a huge stick and…

All: And?

A porcupine: Ap-chee!

All: Be healthy!

Porcupine: Thanks. He should threaten this creature with a stick!

The monkey: That's right, with a stick!

Hare: I don't understand why  I didn't think about it myself. Porcupine, well done!

Raccoon: Are you sure?

Hare: That's right, it's a great idea.

The monkey: A stick is more reliable than a stone.

Raccoon: Maybe…

The monkey: We are your friends, and we know better what is more reliable for you.

Porcupine: Hold it.

(Gives Baby raccoon a huge stick)

Porcupine: Go my friend.

Hare: Go, go.

The monkey:  We are with you, I mean, our thoughts are with you.

( the baby Raccoon went away)

Raccoon: Maybe, He went away.

(He looked into the pond. He was there)

Raccoon: I have a huge stick! Do you see?

(Hiding behind bushes)

The monkey: Oh, I'm so scared! I'm so scared!

Porcupine: How do you think he will be scared?

(But the creature who was sitting in the pond also showed the raccoon a stick)

Raccoon: A-a-a-aaaaa!

(The Baby Raccoon screamed and ran like an arrow to his friends)

Raccoon: He has a bigger stick than my one. No, He doesn't have a stick, he has a huge log!

Hare: Be ashamed!

Porcupine: my friends, Apchi!

All: Be healthy!

Porcupine: Thanks. My Friends, let's go together and... and …

The monkey: Yes, there are a lot of us, and he is alone...

Hare: That's right, we'll go with you, brave Raccoon!

Raccoon: Oh, no, no,! You don't have to do this! I wanted to bring home a lot of crayfish. But, I can't risk my friends.

Hare: Hm…

Monkey: But we…

Porcupine: Apchi!

(the Raccoon's mother came)

Raccoon's mom: Be healthy! Son, what happened? I was collecting a sweet sedge for dinner when I heard your scream.

Raccoon: Oh, Mummy, I wanted to gather crayfish alone! I wanted to bring them home for dinner! But I couldn’t.

The monkey:  It's not his fault!

Hare:  I agree. The creature who was sitting in the pond didn’t let him do that!

Porcupine:  I must say that this creature is very rude.

Raccoon:  Sorry mummy, I did what I could. I made a funny face for him, but he didn't offend and did not run away. I threatened him with a stone and a stick. But I guess that I am small enough and can’t go to the pond alone.

Raccoon's mom: My son, you became big enough. You will definitely bring crayfish for dinner.

The monkey: But how? It's not possible! No!

The Hare: Yes. There's a creature…

Raccoon's mom: Listen to me attentively, Baby Raccoon. Come back, but this time you shouldn't make faces, shouldn’t take stones and sticks with you.

Raccoon: What should I do?

Raccoon's mom: You should smile!

Raccoon: Smile?

Raccoon's mom: Go and smile to the creature who is sitting in the pond.

Raccoon: And is that all?

Hare: Are you sure in it?

The monkey: Yes? Smiling is the same as ... is the same as ... Well, I do not know.

Porcupine: The monkey wanted to say that she is not sure that his smiling can help.

Raccoon's mom: I'm sure.

(Baby Raccoon went to the pond and climbed on the log)

Raccoon: Maybe, he's finally gone

(Baby Raccoon looked into the pond)

Raccoon: No, he hasn’t gone yet!

Raccoon: Ha ha! Ha-ha-ha-ha

The monkey: What's the matter with him?

Hare: He is laughing.

The monkey: I'm not deaf, I can hear him laughing, but why is he laughing?

Raccoon: He wants to be friends with me!

Porcupine: Be friends?

Raccoon: Come here, everyone.

Porcupine: I am not sure.

(But the little Raccoon's laugh was so bright and loud, our friends were so curious and they moved to the log soon).

The monkey:  Oh, this creature is not alone there. Hee-hee…

Porcupine: Yeah... haha..

Hare: To tell the truth, there are four creatures in the pond.

A raccoon: And they are smiling.

Porcupine:  And we are smiling too.

The monkey: Exactly.

Raccoon: And now I can cross over to the other side.

(The raccoon quickly ran to the other side and immediately returned)

Raccoon: Mummy, look, I got a full basket of crayfish.

Raccoon’s mother: It is so fast. Good boy! Invite your friends to our dinner.

Raccoon: My dear friends, I invite you to our dinner.

The monkey: It's good.

Hare: Oh, thank you.

Porcupine: Well, let's go.

Raccoon: Wait a minute.

(Baby Raccoon climbed on the log once again and gave the hand to the creature who was sitting in the pond)

Raccoon: You're not bad at all! And he smiled.

Smile.

Only smile shine on a rainy day

Only smile can make a rainbow up in skies

Share your smile when someone’s not okey

And your smile returns to you a hundred times

Chorus:

And the clouds in blue skies

Dance a waltz like butterflies

A grasshopper plays his tiny violin

Rivers, lakes and even streams

Have beginnings in the springs

Friendship starts with gentle smiles through thick and thin

Heavy rain and stormy weather end

Happy smile replaces thunderstorm and showers

Dark thick wood that happy smiles attend

Is immediately covered with bright flowers

Chorus

Lovely smiles can warm a frozen heart

Lovely smiles warm tiny ants and big black bears

Let all smiles be known works of art

Something valuable everyone can share

Chorus
