Рождество в Англии

Цели мероприятия: 

1. познакомить учащихся с обычаями и традициями празднования Рождества в Великобритании;
2. развивать навык монологической речи;
3. воспитывать уважительное отношение к культуре и традициям страны изучаемого языка;
4. развивать творческие способности.

Оборудование: диск с презентацией, мультимедийный проектор, фонограммы песен и сопровождающих мелодий.

На доске: декорация камина, украшенного рождественскими чулками с подарками.

В классе: рождественские ели, окна, украшенные в стиле рождественских традиций, на столах свечи в стиле Christingle.

ХОД МЕРОПРИЯТИЯ

1. Приветствие и организационный момент

– Good morning, my students, guests and colleagues! I’m very glad to see you at my special party. I hope you’ll have a good time here.

– Different people live in different countries. Different countries have different Christmas traditions. Today we are speaking about Christmas traditions in Great Britain. We have read a lot about Christmas and now we are trying to act these traditions.

– We have a big family too and we are going to study how to celebrate this special Day on 25-th of December.

T. Who is St.Thomas?
P. St.Thomas was the patron saint of old people, so this was the day for giving them small presents of money to help them buy their Christmas food.

2. «Дом в рождество»

Christmas is coming and the geese are getting fat
Please spare a penny for the old man’s hat
If you haven’t got a penny
A ha’ penny will do,
If you haven’t a ha’ penny
God bless you…

T. One of many St. Thomas’s Day customs is Wassailing.

Wassail, wassail, through the town
If you’ve got any apples, throw them down;
If you’ve got no apples, money will do;
The jug is white and the ale is brown
This is the best house in the town

Wassail, Wassail all over the town,
Our toast is white, our ale is brown,
Our bowl is made of a maplin tree.
We’ll be good fellows all – I drink to thee!

T. If someone said to you “Wassail” you reply “Drinkhail”. (Учащиеся обмениваются святочными репликами)

3. Christmas Eve ( Слайд 6)

T. Christmas Eve is on the 24-th of December
P. Yes, on this day everybody is very busy and in a big hurry.
T. What is the tradition of Christmas Eve?
P. On Christmas Eve children hang their stockings on their beds; they wait for Father Christmas and other miracles.
T. What do you know about Yule Log? (Большое полено, сжигаемое в сочельник)
P. Yule log is a piece of wood which people burn in the fireplace on Christmas Eve.
T. What is the Nativity Play? (Пьеса о рождении Христа)
P. Nativity Play tells us about Christ Birth. Children usually perform this play themselves. They perform it at school before Christmas.

5. All nations have their own traditions on Christmas Day. And I’d like to proclaim: “Christmas parade of nations”. (Учащиеся  в национальных костюмах говорят на разных языках)

6. T. Thank you very much. In the afternoon English people may watch the Queen on the television as she delivers her traditional Christmas message to the United Kingdom and Commonwealth.

T. Now you see the Queen Elizabeth when she was 6. What do you think did she love the Christmas day? (Учащиеся отвечают)

T: We have just received a message from Elizabeth The Second. Who wants to read the message? (Ученик зачитывает послание Королевы)

“Dear students of school № 591 in Saint-Petersburg! This Christmas my thoughts a day that’s forever brand new. A moment of magic in all our lives when the wonder of love rules the Earth. It’s a special time when I wish you and your families love, health and happiness and lasting peace throughout the world. For Christmas this festival of Christmas is the time to remember the birth of the one we call «The Prince of Peace and our source of «light and life» in both good times and bad. It’ not always easy to accept his teaching but I have no doubt that The New Year will be all the better if we do but try.
I hope you will all have a very happy Christmas this year and that you go into The New Year with renewed hope and confidence.”

7. T. You have already known that Father Christmas comes into children’s homes? They say he comes from North Pole.

He brings presents for the children. Let’s call him right now!
“Hail! Father Christmas, hail to thee!”

(Учащиеся хором зовут Санта-Клауса. Появляется Санта, общается с детьми.)

– Merry Christmas, children!

T. Children, FC knows that you learn English and speak English. He wants to speak to you.

FC. – How are you? What is your name? How old are you? Where are you from? Have you got a sister (brother)? What is his (her) name? How old is he (she)?
T. Father Christmas, you are so fighting Fit!
FC. Yes, I do morning exercises every day and swim in the ocean.
T. Children have prepared you a concert.
FC. – Oh, I’m very glad to see it.

(Учащиеся исполняют песню “Jingle Bells”. )

– But it’s time to try traditional Christmas food.

T. But before it let’s sing a traditional Christmas carol.

T. FC, do you like our children? Have you got any presents for them?

T. Children! FC is very busy today. He has a lot of things to do. He must go now. Let’s wish him a Merry Christmas and say goodbye to him.

8. T. It’s high time to try traditional Christmas food.

(После исполнения гимна выносится пудинг и рождественский пирог)

T. What do you know about Christmas pudding?

P. Christmas pudding was first made many many years ago. Now it is the highlight of Christmas dinner. Children often put holly on the pudding. Traditionally a coin is placed into the pudding. It brings good lunch to a person who finds it.

T. What presents do children give to their friends or members of the family?

P. In the evening of the 24th of December children hang their Christmas stockings on their beds or put them under the Christmas tree. A Christmas stocking is not a real stocking. It is big and beautifully decorated.

We’re looking forward New Year and this day in Great Britain is as favorite as in Russia.
