William Shakespeare

     William Shakespeare is an English poet, playwright and actor. He was born in Stratford–upon–Avon in the April of 1564. William was the third child of John Shakespeare, a leather merchant, and Mary Arden, a local landed heiress. He had two older sisters and three younger brothers. William studied at the King’s New Grammar School in Stratford-upon-Avon.

     At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway. They had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a career in London as an actor and writer. William Shakespeare worked in the Globe Theatre. He wrote 37 plays, 154 sonnets and poems. Many of his plays were published during his lifetime.

     Shakespeare died on the 23rd of April 1616. He was buried in the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon.  Shakespeare is commemorated in many statues and memorials. There is a Shakespeare’s  funeral monument in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey.

Hamlet

Hamlet – Son of the late King, and nephew of the present King.

Claudius – King of Denmark, and Hamlet's uncle.

Gertrude – Queen of Denmark, and mother to Hamlet.

Ophelia – Hamlet’s lover.

Romeo and Juliet

Juliet, the 13-year-old daughter of Capulet, and the play's female protagonist.

Romeo, the son of Montague.

Benvolio, Romeo's cousin and best friend.

Mercutio, a friend of Romeo.

King Lear

King Lear, King of Britain.

Goneril , eldest daughter of Lear.

Regan, second daughter of Lear.

Cordelia, youngest daughter of Lear.
