The United States is a young country. Its history is only a few hundred years old. It is sometimes called the "New World". Over the last 400 years millions of people have come to start a new life in this "New World".

The United States of America is the fourth largest country in the world (after Russia, Canada, and China). The total area of the country is about 10 square kilometers. The USA neigbours with Canada in the north, and Mexico in the south. It also has a sea boarder with Russia. The population of the country is more than 300 million.

The USA is a highly developed industrial country. It is the leading producer of copper and oil. The country produces aircrafts, cars, textiles, radio and television sets, weapon, furniture, and paper.

The people of the United States are a mixture of many different nationalities. These different people brought to their new land a wonderful mixture of customs and traditions.

The USA is made up of 50 states and the District of Columbia where the capital of the country, Washington, is situated.

Washington, D. C. The district is named in honour of Columbus, the discoverer of America. Washington was built as the capital of the United States of America in 1791. The Capitol is the highest building in Washington.

New York New York is perhaps the most famous city in the world where financial institutions, numerous historical and cultural attractions, museums, shops, theaters and much more are concentrated . This is a noisy and vibrant city of skyscrapers and freedom, which many people know by the abundance of movies and photos, where the action takes place on its streets.

Florida Florida - the "sunny state" occupying the eponymous peninsula in the southeastern United States - is often called the American tourist paradise. The west coast of the state is washed by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the east - by the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to the climate, vacation in Florida is possible all year round - even in the winter months, air temperature rarely drops below 19-20 ° C.
