 Welcome to Russia and Tatarstan

 Communication objective

1.Warm-up

The teacher offers the children to guess the subject of the lesson for today looking at the blackboard. There are some pictures on the blackboard with the sights of Moscow, Kazan.

The teacher tells that lots of people abroad are interested in our country and would like to visit Russia, see its beauties and get acquainted with its traditions and people. Of course it would be interesting for them to visit Tatarstan, too.

Revision of the vocabulary.

1.Pps repeat the words after the teacher.

 Diverse, ethnic group, impressive, magnificent, own, scenery, temperate, time zone, vast,

birch, bear, monsoon, steppes, , desert, subtropical, tundra

2.Revision of the vocabulary using the structure INSIDE/OUTSIDE CIRCLE

With the whole class, brainstorm ideas of what Pp can tell or write about Russia to foreign  visitors. Draw a mind-map on the shifts of paper to collect Pp’s ideas.

DEVELOPING THE READING AND SPEAKING SKILLS

1.READING AND TRANSLATING SLIDES ‘OUR RUSSIA’ using the structure RALLY ROBIN.

2. 2.REVISION OF THE TOPIC THE SENTENCES using the structure TAKE OFF-TOUCH DOWN.

3.SPEAKING ABOUT RUSSIA in a situation: your English pen-pal is interested in your country. What  would you tell him about Russia?

4.USING THE SAME SLIDES TO TALK ABOUT TATARSTAN.        

5. READING THE TEXT ‘Geography of Tatarstan’and COMPLETING THE CHART before/after using the structure AR GUIDE. Task 3.

6.Talking about the own country or area using the structure CLOCK BUDDIES.

11. REFLECTION OF THE LESSON.

12.HOMEWORK. Write a leaflet with a programme for your local festival.
