Скоморох 1 Good afternoon , dear guests, dear children.

Скоморох 2  we are glad to see you. Today we are going to speak about Maslenitsa, its history and traditions which exists to celebrate this holiday.

C1 This is a spring holiday, because it means spring coming. Meet the girl-spring.

Spring is here, Spring is here,

Winter has gone and the flowers appear.

Little birds begin to sing

Bicycle bells begin to ring,

Children come out and jump the rope,

Spring is here now, I hope.

C2 spring means the blue sky, the songs of birds, merry streams and of course, Maslenitsa. It is one of the most favourite holidays.

C1 it means «butter» and that people can eat many kinds of food including butter, fresh cream, sour cream.

C2     “Maslenitsa” is celebrated on the last week before the great fast, which lasts 7 weeks and ends with the Easter.

C1 This holiday is called “Maslenitsa” because people couldn’t eat meat during this week. But they could eat milk products, so they made pancakes.

C2 We celebrate it every year. It is a national holiday. It is one of the loveliest and happiest holidays a year. every day has its own meaning and people have special events.

C1 How interesting! Could you tell us about them?

Monday means “встреча”. On Monday people make ice – hills. Children bring pancakes to those people, whom their parents want to see on the last day of “Maslenitsa”.

Понедельник – «встреча». В понедельник дети делают ледяные горки. Дети разносят блины тем людям, кого хотят видеть их родители в последний день Масленицы.

Tuesday is “заигрыш”. Since morning boys and girls toboggan. The boys look for brides and the girls look for grooms. Merry games begin on this day

Вторник – «заигрыш». С утра мальчики и девочки катаются на санях. Мальчики ищут себе невест, а девушки – женихов. В этот день проводится  веселые игры.

• Wednesday is called “лакомка”. On this day the housewives use the proverb: «Что есть в печи – все на стол мечи».

People make many delicious meals. On the first place are pancakes of course.

Среда – «лакомка». В этот день домохозяйки используют пословицу: Что есть в печи – все на стол мечи. Люди говорят вкусные блюда. На первом месте – конечно же, блины.

 There are many recipes of making pancakes.  The pancakes may be «красные гречневые», «боярские», and  pancakes «нежность».

Here is the recipe, which is very simple. Take some flout, sugar and milk. Add 2-3 eggs and mix everything. Oil the pan and bake pancakes as usual. The pancakes are very tasty.

-   Есть много рецептов приготовления блинов. Блины могут быть «красные гречневые», «боярские» и блинчики «нежность». Вот рецепт, который очень прост. Возьмите муку, соль, сахар и молоко. Добавьте 2-3 яйца и перемешайте все. Смажьте сковороду маслом и пеките, как обычно. Эти блины очень вкусные.

Thursday is called «разгуляй». The main event is «оборона и взятие снежного городка». Young boys and man compete with each other. Women and children support them. We have a task for our boys. Boys, come here. I will give you some riddles. You are to guess the answer. Who will have the right answer will get a prize. (загадки).

 Четверг называется «разгуляй». Главное событие - «взятие и оборона снежного городка». Юноши и мужчины соревнуются друг с другом. Женщины и дети поддерживают их. У нас есть задания для мальчиков. Мальчики, идите сюда. У нас есть загадки для вас. Тот, кто назовет правильный ответ, получит приз.

Friday is called “тёщины вечера”. On this day a mother – in – law comes to her son – in – law. The son – in – law treats her to many delicious things. We’d like to show you their meeting.

 Пятница называются «тёщины вечера». В этот день тёща приходит к зятю в гости. Зять угощает ее разными вкусными вещами. Мы хотим показать вам их встречу. (сценка).

(Стук в дверь. Зять открывает дверь. На пороге – теща)

 S – Oh, mother. I haven’t seen you for ages. Hello.

 M – Hi, my dear son! How are you?

 S – I’m fine thank you. Mother, would you like to have a snack? I baked pancakes myself.

 M – Really? Of course, I’d like to try them.

 M – m – m. Delicious! Thank you very much, but I must go. Good- bye.

  S – Bye.

Saturday is called «золовкины посиделки». People visit their friends and relatives on Saturday. The main dish is numerous pancakes

    You know, you can make pancakes with different stuffings. Stuffings may be from meat, fruit, and cheese and so on. First of all I put the stuffing on the pancake. Then I roll the pancake up. The pancake is ready.

 Суббота называется «золовкины посиделки». Люди навещают своих друзей и родственников в субботу. Главное блюдо – многочисленные блины. Все знаете, блины могут быть с разными  начинками. Начинки могут быть из мяса, фруктов, сыра, творога и т.д. сейчас я покажу вам, как начинять блины. Сначала я кладу  начинку на блин, затем сворачиваю его. Блин готов.

Sunday is the last day of “Maslenitsa”. Sunday is called «прощёный день». On this day people beg their pardon to many relatives and friends.  People organize food – fairs, where craftsmen may show their works or even sell them.

Воскресенье – последний день Масленицы его называют «прощёный день».  В этот день  люди просят прощение у своих родственников и друзей. Организуются ярмарки, где ремесленники могут показать свои поделки и даже продать их.

Spring makes the world the happy place,

You see a smile on every face,

Flowers come out and birds arrive,

Oh, isn’t good to be alive?
