THE TURNIP

Characters: Author, Grandfather, Grandmother, Granddaughter, Dog (named Jack), Cat, Mouse.

Scene I

(Звучит музыка. На сцене появляется старый дедушка, который выращивает овощи в своём огороде.)

Author: Once upon a time lived the Grandfather and the Grandmother. In springtime Grandfather planted a turnip, a cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and many other vegetables. But the Turnip was his favorite.

(Дед поёт песню и танцует около репки.)

Grandfather (радостно):

We had planted a little seed,

We took out all the weed.

So it grows and grows fast

And will bring the rich crop at last.

 (Репка выросла большая. Дед ходит вокруг репки и пытается её выдернуть.)

Grandfather: Oh, what a big Turnip! I want to pull it out. One, two, three! It’s too big for me.

(Ходит вокруг репки и думает, как её выдернуть.)

Scene II

(Дед решает позвать бабушку.)

Grandfather: I should call Grandmother for help. Grandma, Grandma come over to help me to pull the Turnip out. Granny, come here!

Grandmother:  I am coming. What’s the matter?

Grandfather: Help me, please!

Grandmother: All right, Grandfather. I’ll help you, my dear.

Author: The Grandmother holding on to the Grandfather, the grandfather holding on to the Turnip and they are both pulling hard.

Grandfather and Grandmother (пытаются вытащить репку): One, two, three! One, two, three!

Author: But they can’t pull the Turnip out.

Grandfather and Grandmother (ходят вокруг репки и удивляются): Oh, it’s too big for us!

Scene III

Author: They have a Granddaughter, Kate by name. She is a very kind girl, she always helps her Grandparents.

(Звучит музыка. На сцене появляется внучка и зачитывает стихотворение.)

Granddaughter: (Внучка прыгает со скакалкой.)        

I can skip slowly, I can skip fast,

Look, my rope is whirling past.

(Дед с бабушкой решают позвать свою внучку.)

Grandmother: You know, Grandpa, it’s too deep in the ground. Let’s call our Granddaughter to help us.

Grandfather: It’s a very bright idea. Call our Granddaughter to help us.

Grandfather and Grandmother: Granddaughter, Granddaughter come to help us to pull the Turnip out.

Granddaughter: All right.  I am coming, why didn’t you call me so early?

Author: The Granddaughter holding on to the Grandmother, the Grandmother holding on to the Grandfather, the Grandfather holding on to the Turnip and they all are pulling hard.

Together: One, two, three! One, two, three!

Author: But they can’t pull the turnip out.

Granddaughter: Oh, it’s too big for us!

Scene IV

(Внучка предлагает позвать собаку.)

Granddaughter: I think we need more help. Let’s call Jack to help us. Jack, Jack come to help us to pull the Turnip out.

Granddaughter: (внучка зовет собаку) Dog, Dog, come here, help us, please!

Dog: I am a Dog, my name is Jack. My nose is nice, my coat is black. What’s the matter?

Grandmother:  Jack, Jack, help us, please!

Dog: All right.

Author: Dog by Granddaughter, Granddaughter by Grandmother, Grandmother by Grandfather, Grandfather by the Turnip. Pull the Turnip.

Together: One, two, three! One, two, three!

Author: No result.

Together: Oh, it’s too big for us!

Scene V

Dog: It’s not easy. Let’s call the Cat to help us. Kitty, kitty come down to help us to pull the Turnip out.

(Собака зовет кошку)

Dog: Cat, Cat, help us, please!

Cat: I am coming. Prrrr, prrrr.

Author: The Cat holding on to Dog, Dog holding on to the Granddaughter, the Granddaughter holding on to the Grandmother, the Grandmother holding on to the Grandfather, the Grandfather holding on to the Turnip and they all are pulling hard.

Together: One, two, three! One, two, three! Oh, it’s too big for us!

Scene VI

Author: And they have a Mouse.

(Звучит музыка. Появляется мышка.)

Mouse (мышка читает стихотворение):

Hickory, dickory, dock!

The mouse ran up the clock,

The clock struck one,

The mouse ran down,

Hickory, dickory, dock!

Cat: I believe we need help. Let’s call the Mouse.  Mouse, Mouse, come and help us, please.

Mouse (играет с кошкой):

I am a mouse,

You are a cat;

One, two, three,

You catch me!

Cat: No, I don’t. Help us, please!

Mouse: What’s the matter?

Cat: This Turnip is very big for us, we can’t pull it out!

Mouse: Ok. I am happy to help, especially when all the family is working together.

Author: The Mouse holding on to the Cat, the Cat holding on to the Dog, the Dog holding on to the Granddaughter, the Granddaughter holding on to the Grandmother, the Grandmother holding on to the Grandfather, the Grandfather holding on to the Turnip and they all are pulling hard and singing together.

Together: One, two, three! One, two, three!

Author: And they pulled the Turnip out! All of them were glad that the Turnip was finally out.

Together: Oh! What a big Turnip we have!

Together (поют песню):

We are working very hard,

Pulling the turnip out of the mud,

All together we are so strong

We are singing a happy song.

(Все герои выходят на поклон.)
