We would like to tell you about one of the biggest European countries The United Kingdom of great Britian and Northern Ireland.

The British isles are a group of islands of the northwest coast of continental Europe that include the Islands oа Great Britian and Ireland and over 6 000( thousand) smallerк isles. the British isles are washed by:

1. The Atlantic ocean (in the west)
2. The North sea (in the east)
3. The Artic ocean (in the north)
4. The English channel (in the south  )

The UK is divide into 4 parts:

1. England (the capital is London)
2. Wales (the capital Cardiff)
3. Scotland (the capital is Edinburgh)
4. Northern Ireland (the capital is Dublin)

We guess, a lot of people are in some doubt, as, to what the difference is between England, GB, The British Isles and the UK. Here we present a diagram to explain this.

The republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom are the only two sovereign states in this image. They are shown in red. Ireland and Great Britain are both islands and are shown in green. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are constituent countries of the United Kingdom and are shown in orange.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland uses as its national flag the

banner known as the Union Flag or, popularly, Union Jack. The current design of the Union Flag dates from the union of Ireland and Great Britain in 1801. It consists of the red cross of Saint George (patron saint of England), edged in white, superimposed on the Cross of St Patrick (patron saint of Ireland), which are superimposed on the Saltire of Saint Andrew (patron saint of Scotland). Wales, however, is not represented in the Union Flag by Wales' patron saint, Saint David, as at the time the flag was designed Wales was part of the Kingdom of England.

Ireland is an island to the northwest of continental Europe. It is the third-largest island in Europe and the twentieth-largest island on Earth.

Politically, the island is divided between the Republic of Ireland, which covers just under five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom, which covers the remainder and is located in the northeast of the island.

 Dublin  is the capital and most populous city of Ireland

The national flag of Ireland is a vertical tricolour of green, white, and orange. It is also known as the Irish tricolour. the Irish government has stated that the green represents the Gaelic tradition of Ireland and the orange represents the followers of William of Orange in Ireland, with white representing peace,  between them.

The tricolour is used by nationalists on both sides of the border as the national flag of the whole island of Ireland since 1916.

In conclusion we would like to say that Great Britain is a country reach in history, culture and traditions. Unfortunately the limits of the presentation do not give the chance to cover all the information.
