My name is Vika . My surname is Lagunova . I`d like to share my opinion about the book « Harry Potter and Philosopher`s Stone » after JK Rowling. I`m very fond of reading especially fiction. Now I`d like to interpret the contents of the book and its characters.
Joan Kathleen Rowling
Joan Kathleen Rowling was born on July 31, 1965 in England, in a place called Chipping. At the age of six she wrote her first story-a sick rabbit and softhearted friends. In 1998 she published the second part of the series « Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets » and in 1999 « Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban »
Harry Potter was translated into more than 30 languages, including Thai and Zulu. The British Academy book called JK Rowling, the best author, Prince Charles awarded her the Order of the British Empire for her outstanding contribution to children`s literature.
Children, getting out of everyday life in the bright and colorful world, become strong, independent, and can change things around. The beauty of the magic world JK Rowling is that even thought it is different fabulous encourage, but essentially similar to ours-there is not any where in the « long ago » and here, around the corner, one of the city`s side streets
An eleven orphan boy Harry Potter lived in a family of his aunt and did not even know that he was-a true magician. But once the owl arrived with a letter for him, and Harry Potter`s life changed forever.
He learned that enrolled in the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, found out the truth about the mysterious death of his parents, and as a result he managed to reveal the secret of the philosopher`s stone.
Now I will tell about the characters of the book Harry Potter
Petunia, Dudley, Vernon
Mr. Dursley (Vernon) He was a stout man with a very thick mustache and a very short neck. He led the company under the name « Grannings » , which specialized in production of many drills.
Mrs. Dursley (Petunia) She was a skinny blonde woman with a neck almost twice longer as it should be at her height. However, the lack of it turned out to be handy, because most of the time Petunia watched neighbours and listened to their conversations. And with such a neck as it was very convenient to peep in at the other people`s fences.
Dudley He is like as two drops of water like his dad. He had a large pink face, almost completely absent from the neck, small eyes were watery blue, and thick blonde hair neatly lay on the big fat head. Dudley, Harry thought « pear » . Aunt Petunia often repeated that Dudley`s like a little angel, and Harry told himself that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig
Harry Potter
Harry He had a thin face, sharp knees, dark hair and bight green eyes. He wore round glasses, glued on a with the cello tape and not only thanks to it Dudley broke them, hitting Harry`s nose. The only thing about his appearance Harry liked a thin scar on his forhead which reminded of lightning.
« It is right that it is a beautiful one, but it is also and dangerous thing. So it must be approached with the greatest caution »
I agree with that, because all people want to hear the truth, but the truth is not always pleasant. Sometimes the truth is really dangerous, because people often listen to the speaker`s words and believe in them, but the truth is not only good. In short, some words can hurt, offend or upset people.
« You can not cling to the dream, and dreams forgetting about the present, forgetting about one`s li f e »
I like this phrase, because I understand its meaning. We completely « muggles » as we usually call wizards, other believe in their dreams forgetting about reality, and when we realize that lived only with these memories, we become sad, because it was just a dream.
« The trouble is that people tend to choose what is the worst for them »
I do not agree with that, because not all people choose the worst. In general, the worst does not happen. Just that sometimes it can be a little worse than it was. « Just be yourself, and all you get » , advices Harry good natured giant Hagrid . Perhaps this is the main idea of the book…
