  1. «Красная шапочка»  Little Red Cap by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

Once upon a time there was a sweet little girl. Everyone who saw her liked her, but most of all her grandmother, who did not know what to give the child next. Once she gave her a little cap made of red velvet. Because it suited her so well, and she wanted to wear it all the time, she came to be known as Little Red Cap.

One day her mother said to her, "Come Little Red Cap. Here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother. She is sick and weak, and they will do her well. Mind your manners and give her my greetings. Behave yourself on the way, and do not leave the path, or you might fall down and break the glass, and then there will be nothing for your sick grandmother."

Little Red Cap promised to obey her mother. The grandmother lived out in the woods, a half hour from the village. When Little Red Cap entered the woods a wolf came up to her. She did not know what a wicked animal he was, and was not afraid of him.

"Good day to you, Little Red Cap."

"Thank you, wolf."

"Where are you going so early, Little Red Cap?"

"To grandmother's."

"And what are you carrying under your apron?"

"Grandmother is sick and weak, and I am taking her some cake and wine. We baked yesterday, and they should give her strength."

"Little Red Cap, just where does your grandmother live?"

"Her house is a good quarter hour from here in the woods, under the three large oak trees. There's a hedge of hazel bushes there. You must know the place," said Little Red Cap.

The wolf thought to himself, "Now there is a tasty bite for me. Just how are you going to catch her?" Then he said, "Listen, Little Red Cap, haven't you seen the beautiful flowers that are blossoming in the woods? Why don't you go and take a look? And I don't believe you can hear how beautifully the birds are singing. You are walking along as though you were on your way to school in the village. It is very beautiful in the woods."

Little Red Cap opened her eyes and saw the sunlight breaking through the trees and how the ground was covered with beautiful flowers. She thought, "If a take a bouquet to grandmother, she will be very pleased. Anyway, it is still early, and I'll be home on time." And she ran off into the woods looking for flowers. Each time she picked one she thought that she could see an even more beautiful one a little way off, and she ran after it, going further and further into the woods. But the wolf ran straight to the grandmother's house and knocked on the door.

"Who's there?"

"Little Red Cap. I'm bringing you some cake and wine. Open the door for me."

"Just press the latch," called out the grandmother. "I'm too weak to get up."

The wolf pressed the latch, and the door opened. He stepped inside, went straight to the grandmother's bed, and ate her up. Then he took her clothes, put them on, and put her cap on his head. He got into her bed and pulled the curtains shut.

Little Red Cap had run after flowers, and did not continue on her way to grandmother's until she had gathered all that she could carry. When she arrived, she found, to her surprise, that the door was open. She walked into the parlor, and everything looked so strange that she thought, "Oh, my God, why am I so afraid? I usually like it at grandmother's." Then she went to the bed and pulled back the curtains. Grandmother was lying there with her cap pulled down over her face and looking very strange.

"Oh, grandmother, what big ears you have!"

"All the better to hear you with."

"Oh, grandmother, what big eyes you have!"

"All the better to see you with."

"Oh, grandmother, what big hands you have!"

"All the better to grab you with!"

"Oh, grandmother, what a horribly big mouth you have!"

"All the better to eat you with!" And with that he jumped out of bed, jumped on top of poor Little Red Cap, and ate her up. As soon as the wolf had finished this tasty bite, he climbed back into bed, fell asleep, and began to snore very loudly.

A huntsman was just passing by. He thought it strange that the old woman was snoring so loudly, so he decided to take a look. He stepped inside, and in the bed there lay the wolf that he had been hunting for such a long time. "He has eaten the grandmother, but perhaps she still can be saved. I won't shoot him," thought the huntsman. So he took a pair of scissors and cut open his belly.

He had cut only a few strokes when he saw the red cap shining through. He cut a little more, and the girl jumped out and cried, "Oh, I was so frightened! It was so dark inside the wolf's body!"

And then the grandmother came out alive as well. Then Little Red Cap fetched some large heavy stones. They filled the wolf's body with them, and when he woke up and tried to run away, the stones were so heavy that he fell down dead.

The three of them were happy. The huntsman took the wolf's pelt. The grandmother ate the cake and drank the wine that Little Red Cap had brought. And Little Red Cap thought to herself, "As long as I live, I will never leave the path and run off into the woods by myself if mother tells me not to."

They also tell how Little Red Cap was taking some baked things to her grandmother another time, when another wolf spoke to her and wanted her to leave the path. But Little Red Cap took care and went straight to grandmother's. She told her that she had seen the wolf, and that he had wished her a good day, but had stared at her in a wicked manner. "If we hadn't been on a public road, he would have eaten me up," she said.

"Come," said the grandmother. "Let's lock the door, so he can't get in."

Soon afterward the wolf knocked on the door and called out, "Open up, grandmother. It's Little Red Cap, and I'm bringing you some baked things."

They remained silent, and did not open the door. The wicked one walked around the house several times, and finally jumped onto the roof. He wanted to wait until Little Red Cap went home that evening, then follow her and eat her up in the darkness. But the grandmother saw what he was up to. There was a large stone trough in front of the house.

"Fetch a bucket, Little Red Cap," she said. "Yesterday I cooked some sausage. Carry the water that I boiled them with to the trough." Little Red Cap carried water until the large, large trough was clear full. The smell of sausage arose into the wolf's nose. He sniffed and looked down, stretching his neck so long that he could no longer hold himself, and he began to slide. He slid off the roof, fell into the trough, and drowned. And Little Red Cap returned home happily and safely.

3. «Золушка» - Cinderella

Once upon a time there lived a young pretty girl. Her mother was dead and her father had married a widow with two daughters. Her stepmother didn't like her and scolded her always. She only loved and cared for her own daughters. For this reason Cinderella always lived unhappily.

Her step mother never gave her good clothes to wear, good food to eat and any time for rest. Her life was very miserable. She worked hard all day. Only in the evening she was allowed to sit near the cinders, for a while. That’s why everybody called her Cinderella.

One fine morning, an announcement was made in the town. It was about the ball dance to be held in the palace. The step mother and her daughters became very excited for the ball dance. They purchased new gowns, new shoes and new jewelries for the function. When Cinderella heard about it she also wanted to go there but she didn’t have the guts to ask her stepmother.

She went back to her room and started crying on her destiny. She was missing her mother very much when suddenly a fairy appeared in front of her. Don't worry Cinderella, said the fairy. I know you want to go to the ball dance. And so you shall... But how can I, asked Cinderella.

The fairy smiled. With a flick of her magic stick Cinderella found herself wearing the most beautiful dress she had ever seen with lovely shoes and jewelries. The fairy also brought a sparkling coach for Cinderella to reach the palace. Cinderella could hardly believe her eyes. She was very happy. Cinderella thanked the fairy and went towards the palace.

When she entered the palace she was very surprised to see it so beautifully decorated. She met people around, danced and enjoyed a lot at the ball. Soon the prince and the king entered the hall. Everyone stopped dancing. They wanted to meet the prince, but... but the prince was finding someone lese in the huge crowd. He was finding his princess of dreams. He saw Cinderella standing far off near the stairs; the prince went towards Cinderella and offered her to dance with him. Both of then danced together for a long time. It seemed as if the prince was in love with Cinderella.

Now it was half night, Cinderella had to return back home before her stepmother and sisters returned. She remembered what the fairy had said, and without a word of goodbye she slipped from the Prince’s arms and ran down the steps. As she ran she lost one of her shoes, but not for a moment did she dream of stopping to pick it up!

The Prince who was now madly in love with her picked up the shoes and asked his ministers to go and search for the girl. I will never be content until I find her!”

So the ministers tried the slipper on the foot of every girl in the town but were not successful. When they reached Cinderella’s home, her sisters too tried to wear the shoes but unluckily they failed. The shoes didn’t fit anyone of them. Cinderella was standing nearby, the ministers asked her to try the shoe as well. Her sisters laughed at this. When Cinderella wore the shoe it fitted perfectly. Everyone was surprised to see that. The prince also reached there, he was happy to find her dream girl. He took Cinderella to his palace and soon they got married.

Cinderella begins a happy life with the prince…..

Good morning! Good morning!

And how do you do?

Good morning! Good morning!

I’m fine, how are you?

I see green…

I see green, I see yellow,

I see that funny fellow.

I see white, I see black,

I see this and that and that.

I see pink, I see brown,

I stand up and I sit down,

I see red, I see blue,

I see you and you and you!

Colours

Red and yellow, pink and green,

Orange and purple, and blue,

I can sing a rainbow,

Sing a rainbow,

Sing a rainbow too.

Red and yellow, pink and green,

Orange and purple, and blue,

I can see a rainbow,

See a rainbow,

See a rainbow too.

Snow white, black night.

About Weather

If bees stay at home,

Rain will soon come;

If they fly away,

Fine will be the day.

Evening red and morning grey,

Send the traveller on his way;

Evening grey and morning red,

Bring the rain upon his head.

When the dew is on the grass,

Rain will never come to pass.

A sunshiny shower

Won't last half an hour.

Three Little Kittens

Three little kittens they lost their mittens, and they began to cry,

"Oh mother dear, we sadly fear that we have lost our mittens."

"What! Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!

Then you shall have no pie."

"Meeow, meeow, meeow, now we shall have no pie."

The three little kittens they found their mittens,

And they began to cry,

"Oh mother dear, see here, see here

For we have found our mittens."

"Put on your mittens, you silly kittens

And you shall have some pie"

"Meeow, meeow, meeow,

Now let us have some pie."

The three little kittens put on their mittens

And soon ate up the pie,

"Oh mother dear, we greatly fear

That we have soiled our mittens."

"What! soiled you mittens, you naughty kittens!"

Then they began to cry, "Meeow, meeow, meeow"

Then they began to sigh.

The three little kittens they washed their mittens

And hung them out to dry,

"Oh mother dear, do you not hear

That we have washed our mittens."

"What! washed your mittens, you are good kittens."

But I smell a rat close by,

"Meeow, meeow, meeow" we smell a rat close by...

Jingle bells

Dashing through the snow

In a one-horse open sleigh

O'er the fields we go

Laughing all the way.

Bells on bob-tail ring

Making spirits bright

What fun it is to ride and sing

A sleighing song tonight.

Chorus (припев)

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way,

Oh what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh, O

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way,

Oh what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago

I thought I'd take a ride

And soon Miss Fanny Bright

Was seated by my side;

The horse was lean and lank

Misfortune seemed his lot,

We ran into a drifted bank

And there we got upset.

Chorus (припев)

A day or two ago

The story I must tell

I went out on the snow

And on my back I fell;

A gent was riding by

In a one-horse open sleigh

He laughed at me as

I there sprawling laid

But quickly drove away.

Chorus (припев)

Now the ground is white,

Go it while you're young,

Take the girls along

And sing this sleighing song.

Just bet a bob-tailed bay,

Two-forty as his speed,

Hitch him to an open sleigh

And crack! You'll take the lead.

Father. Oh, I’m OK, but, my child…

Cinderella. Yes, Daddy?

(Enter Lady Sybil.)

Stepmother. Cinderella, what are you doing? You’re not working!

Father. But…

Stepmother. Work, girl, work. Make the breakfast. I’m hungry. I want my toast, jam, cheese and a cup of tea.

Cinderella. Yes, stepmother.

Stepmother. And you Basil, what are you doing? Helping the girl?

Father. Oh, no…

Stepmother. My daughters are coming down and they want their breakfast, too.

(Enter Pat.)

Pat. Good morning, Mummy, dear.

Stepmother. And how are you today, Pat, dear?

Cinderella.

Oh, it’s not a difficult task.
Your dress is there.
Your dresses are here…

(She gives them the dresses.)

Stepmother. Be careful, dear. Don’t spoil them with your dirty hands.

Cinderella. Sisters, you are happy, aren’t you?

Pam (in great surprise). Do you also want to go to the ball?

Cinderella. Oh, I can’t dream of the ball at all!

Stepmother. Of course, you have much work to do. You must think about it, too.

Pam. First, you must mend my socks. (She gives Cinderella her socks with big holes.)

Liz. Clean the spoons, the knives and the forks. (She puts everything into Cinderella’s apron.)

Cinderella (in despair). Oh, yes, I’ll do everything, don’t worry. And then… can I go to the ball?

Liz. Wash my dresses.

Pat. And my dresses!

Liz. My stockings!

Prince. May I dance with you? Let’s start… You are a dream of my heart.

(Music again, they dance. Suddenly the music stops again. The clock strikes 12 times.)

Cinderella. It’s 12 o’clock and I must run. Good bye, dear Prince. I really had a great fun!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Сценарий спектакля для 3-го класса

http://eng.1september.ru/2009/13/11-1.jpg

На уроках домашнего чтения ученики 3-го класса прочитали сказку “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” и проиллюстрировали её.

Woah, do the hokey cokey,
Woah, do the hokey cokey,
Woah, do the hokey cokey,
Knees bent, arms stretched, ra ra ra!

You put your whole self in
your whole self out
In, out, in, out,
You shake it all about.
