Урок английского языка по теме

“N.F. Katanov”

9 класс

Цели:

  1. Формирование лексических навыков говорения, совершенствование техники чтения, совершенствования навыков аудирования с пониманием основного содержания.
  2. Развитие познавательной активности учащихся.
  3. Расширение кругозора учащихся, знакомство с биографией известного хакасского учёного и его заслугами.

Задачи:

  1. Приобщение учащихся к самостоятельному решению коммуникативных задач на английском языке в рамках изученной тематики.
  2. Формирование у учащихся речевой,  языковой, социокультурной компетенций.
  3. Автоматизация навыка диалогической и монологической речи о знаменитых людях республики Хакасия.
  4. Воспитание чувства гордости за достижения Великих людей Хакасии и  чувства уважения к культуре и народу Хакасии.

Ход урока.

  1. Приветствие. На доске – портрет Н.Ф. Катанова.

At fourteen, N.F.Katanov entered the Krasnoyarsk Gymnasium and stayed there for  eight years. At the gymnasium, he displayed great abilities for learning and he studied very hard. While still a student of the Krasnoyarsk gymnasium, he collected khakass legends, made notes of khakas traditions, customs, ways of everyday life, clothes, etc. At the gymnasium, he wrote a Grammar of the Khakas language which was called “The Tatar language (sagai dialect)”. The hand-written text consisted of 800 pages. In 1883, N.F. Katanov’s  first scientific paper, “The Description of the Shaman Tambourine and Clothes of the People of the Sagai Tribe” was published.

In 1888 N.F. Katanov graduated from the university with honours, but he stayed at the university till 1893 and carried out research work. This period of his life was devoted to travelling in order to study different Turkic languages. He went to Siberia and Eastern Turkistan. The journey lasted four years. N.F. Katanov was the first who made detailed  notes of  Tuvinian, Tofalar, Uigur and Khakas languages. In 1994, N.F. Katanov went to live in Kazan and never returned to St. Petersburg. Since that time, his scientific career was closely connected with pedagogical activities, as he became a professor of philology at the Kazan University.

N.F.Katanov wrote a number of books on languages and ethnography of Turks .He also wrote a great number of truthful reports about his journey to Siberia, but the book which made him famous all over the world was ‘The Study of the Uryankhai Language’.The book consisted of 1600 pages. The author gave a detailed description of the Turkic languages and the Tuvinian (Uryankhai) language.

N.F.Katanov died in 1922 and was buried in  Kazan.

1884, he finished the gymnasium with the gold medal and fulfilled his ambition to study at the University of St.Petersburg. He studied at the department of the Arabic-Persian-Turkic-Tatar languages. In addition to Khakas and Russian N.F. Katanov had a perfect command of German, Arabic, Persian and many modern and dead Turkic languages.While still a student of the University, he published more than ten scientific papers.

Nikolai  Fyodorovich Katanov, a famous Khakas scholar ,was born in a small village near Askiz in 1862.When the boy was twelve his father died and Nick had to work to support his family.
