«The Job of My Dream»

Тип урока: урок  обобщения и систематизации знаний с применением ИКТ.

Цель урока: развивать навыки монологической речи по теме “Выбор профессии”; совершенствовать лексические навыки и расширить лексический запас учащихся.

Задачи урока:

Образовательные: развивать навыки монологической устной, чтения и перевода; активизировать изученную лексику по теме “Работа моей мечты” в устной и письменной речи; развивать навыки аудирования,  умения общаться на английском языке.

Развивающие: развивать интеллектуальные способности учащихся, развитие речи, памяти и мышления

Воспитательные: содействовать профориентации учащихся.

Оборудование урока:  проектор, презентация, раздаточный материал (карточки).

Ход  урока

  1.  Организационный момент .

      -  Good afternoon, dear girls and our guests! Sit down. I’m glad to see you. How are you? So, friends, look at the pictures and try to guess, please, what the topic of our lesson is. 

How do you think, what we’ll speak about? You’re right. Today we’ll speak about professions, job, education.  The topic of our lesson is “The job of  your dream”.

Today we have to talk about your future professions. It’s time to discuss different opportunities of the modern world and to find out which of jobs will suit you. I advise you to listen attentively to decide what profession is more enjoyable rewarding and well-paied.

  1. Речевая зарядка.

-First of all, I’d like you to revise words and word combinations on the topic. Let’s remember the names of the most popular professions in the modern life.

-Look at the screen, read and translate the words.

builder, hairdresser, politician, fireman,  accountant, driver,  architect, chemist, translator, carpenter, lawyer,   journalist, cook, physicist, interpreter, engineer, surgeon, designer, manager.

  1. Активизация лексических навыков.

a) So, girls, you should match the descriptions and names of professions. Let’s start.

A person who makes and sells medicine. (A chemist.)

 A person who helps people with the law or talk for them in court. .(A lawyer.)        

A person who works at school and whose job is to teach children.(A teacher.)

 A person who works in a hospital and helps doctors. (A nurse.)

A person who makes a plan of a house you are going to build.( An architect.)

A person who cuts, washes and styles people’s especially women’s heir (A hairdresser.)

A person who takes pictures. (A photographer.)

A person who checks in and out books and gives advice on what to read (A librarian)

A person who prepares food is called (A cook)

A person who plans and understands the making of machines, roads, bridges is called (An engineer)

A person who changes speech from one language into another is called (An interpreter, a translator)

A person who qualified to practice both medicine and surgery is called (A surgeon)

b) Next task is to give definitions of professions and your classmates should name it.

You have 30 seconds to prepare.

  1. Развитие навыков диалогической речи.

-You know so many professions ,skills and qualities for each job. I offer you to discuss college and university education. Which one is better? You’ll read what some students think about university degree and then tell your own opinion, please.

1)I believe that a degree from a prestigious university guarantees a high salary in future.

2)Graduates of top universities have more job opportunities and are more likely to have successful careers.

3)I think a good education and professional skills can be got in any university.

4) It’s true that a university which is not very famous is easier to enter but I think the quality of the education is the same.

-Do you agree or disagree with these statements?

-It’s interesting to learn your ideas about high education. To compare college and university degree we’ll read two texts. One of them is humorous. It’s a joke.

World famous universities

Two young men who had just graduated from Harvard got into a taxi in downtown Boston. They were all excited about the graduation and were talking non-stop about their futures as the cab took off.

After listening to them for a couple of minutes, the cab driver asked, “You boys Harvard graduates?”

“Yes, Sir! Class of ‘94’!” they answered proudly.

The cab driver extended his hand back to shake their hands, saying, “Class of ‘58’.”

-The second text is about vocational colleges. (Ex. 51, p. 60)

-What can you add after reading? What ideas do you have?

  1. Активизация диалогической речи и говорения.

I know that some children follow their parents. They are interested in their jobs from childhood and want to be like their parents doctors, businessman etc.

 Would you like to go into the same career as your parents? What do your parents do?

  1. Защита мини-проектов «The Job of My Dream»

-Your homework was to prepare mini- projects about your future job. What do you consider a good job for you? What do you expect from your future job? What would your friends and your parents think about your choice?

- What points should we consider choosing a career?

-What is more important to you –earning money or having a job you enjoy?

-Do you consider the job of you dream prestigious?

-Whose opinion is important to you in choosing a career?

- Do you often discuss your future career with your parents? Friends?

Some pieces of advice for you:

  • While choosing a job think over every step! Your job should be interesting for you and a salary should be good.
  •     Don’t let your friends and parents pressure you while making a decision. It  is your life and your decision. You will work, but not they. Listen to them, but make a decision only by yourself.
  •     Find out more information about your future job. Try to foresee all advantages and disadvantages of your future job. Every job has its own secrets , characteristics.
  •    Ask everybody (parents, teachers, relatives etc.) about different jobs. More you ask more you will be sure in choosing the job.

  •    You should choose a job considering your skills, interests, talents and wishes.

  1. Подведение итогов урока.

-Our lesson is over. Thanks for your good work. I hope the lesson was interesting and useful. I believe you’ll make a right choice of your future job. All of you get excellent marks today. I wish you good luck and happiness.
