These sea lochs are formed by cliffs, which refers to the fjords of Norway. Scotland is surrounded by many islands like the Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands in the North. Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796) (also known as Robbie Burns , Rabbie Burns , Scotland's favourite son , the Ploughman Poet , Robden of Solway Firth , the Bard of Ayrshire and in Scotland as The Bard ) was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. He is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots language , although much of his writing is also in English and a light Scots dialect , accessible to an audience beyond Scotland. He also wrote in standard English, and in these writings his political or civil commentary is often at its bluntest. A Red Red Rose O my Luve’s like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June; O my Luve’s like the melodie That’s sweetly play’d in tune. As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, So deep in luve am I: And I will luve thee still, my dear, Till a’ the seas gang dry: Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear, And the rocks melt wi ’ the sun: I will luve thee still, my dear, While the sands o’ life shall run. And fare thee well, my only Luve And fare thee well, a while! And I will come again, my Luve , Tho ’ it were ten thousand mile.
