Слайд 3

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in the state of New York, the estate of Hyde Park, in a wealthy and well-known family. Franklin's father, James Roosevelt, belonged to the Dutch family of Rosenfeld. He was the owner of several coal mining companies and farming business. His mother, Sara Delano, belonged to the French Huguenot family. The difference between Franklin's father and mother was 26 years.

Since childhood, his parents instilled in Franklin an interest in politics, history, foreign languages, painting and literature. Until the age of 14 Franklin was educated at home. Then he continued his education in one of the most prestigious boarding schools in America. Because Franklin was very gifted, he was enrolled in third grade. In 1900 Roosevelt entered Harvard University. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, he began his studies at Columbia University Law School.

Слайд 5

Despite the fact that Roosevelt never graduated from University Law school, in 1907 a talented student was invited to work in one of the most prestigious law firms in New York.

Roosevelt was always interested in politics, and soon he had the opportunity to start a career. In 1910, Franklin won local elections as a Democrat, becoming a senator in the state of New York. In 1912, the president of the U.S. Thomas Woodrow Wilson assigned Franklin D. Roosevelt to become Deputy Secretary of the Navy. In 1914 Roosevelt again tried to win a Senate seat, but received not enough votes. In 1920, the politician again defeated, this time in the presidential elections. He participated as a vice-presidential candidate, but the victory went to the conservatives.

Слайд 7

In 1921, while on holiday in Canada, he contracted polio, leading to further disability. The future president lost the opportunity to walk forever, and moved in a wheelchair. Franklin Roosevelt was a strong personality, so disability not only did not break him, but also gave him strength and resilience. Despite his serious illness, in 1928 the politician wins the election, and gets the post of governor of New York.

Слайд 8

To develop a strategy to overcome the crisis, Roosevelt regularly invited the best economists from Harvard and Columbia University to his office. He also did his best to support the poorest in the population. The late 1920-s and 1930-s became very difficult for America, the country was in a protracted economic crisis, which gave rise to poverty and unemployment.

Слайд 9

While being a governor , Roosevelt developed his own bailout programme that he called a “New Course." Thanks to this programme, he managed to win the presidential elections of 1933.

Слайд 10

Franklin Delano Roosevelt became the American president during one of the most difficult and dramatic periods in the history of the United States. Roosevelt was highly respected among his compatriots, who elected him president four times

Слайд 11

Unfortunately, Roosevelt did not manage to live to victory over Nazi Germany. He died in April 1945 from a stroke. Until his death, Franklin Roosevelt did not stop working hard. The result of his work was America's entry into the number of world leaders, achieving economic prosperity and strengthening the military power of the state.
