Christmas Story

Storyteller More than 2000 years ago Joseph & his wife Mary went to Bethlehem. The story begins in the middle of his journey.

Mary: Joseph, I’m tired & I’m hungry. Let’s make a stop. I think we will have our baby this night.

Joseph: Mary, wait a little. We will come to Bethlehem soon. We will find a hotel there & you will have a rest.

Storyteller Mary & Joseph are coming to Bethlehem. Mary is worrying a little because she will have a baby soon & she wants to prepare for his birth. They are near the hotel.

Joseph Sir, my wife is going to have a baby soon. Have you got a vacant room?

The owner of the hotel 1:  We haven’t got any vacant rooms! Don’t bother me any more! My guests are sleeping. Go away!

The owner of the hotel 2: Yes?

Joseph Sir, have you got a vacant room or at least a bed? My wife is going to have a baby tonight. We made a long journey & we are tired & hungry.

The owner of the hotel 2 Sorry, but we haven’t got any vacant rooms or even a bed. You could have a rest in my room, but my wife is ill. I can offer you a barn. You can sleep there.

Joseph Thank you. You are very kind! Mary, we will spend a night in a barn.

Mary: Joseph, in a barn? God will help us!

Away in a manger.

Наrk! The herald angels sing,
Glory to the newborn king!
Peace on Earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled!

Аngel 2:
Joyful, all the nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With angelic host proclaim,
Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Аngel 3:
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!

Angel 4:
Good Christian men, rejoice!
With heart and soul and voice!
Now hear of endless bliss!
Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this!

Аngel 5:
Good Christian men, rejoice!
With heart and soul and voice!
Give heed to what we say
News! News! Jesus Christ is born today!

Mary: Joseph, look at our baby! How beautiful he is!

What child is this

Angel: I come down from heaven & ask to listen to me carefully. A child is born. One day he will be the king. Follow the star in the sky & you will find this prince of peace. The child’s name is Jesus.

King 1: Good morning to you, old woman! Tell us, what country is it? And what is your name, kind woman?

Befana: This is Italy and my name is Bephana

King 2: And we’re the three Kings– Gaspar, Melhior and Baltaras. Angels are singing Christ is born today. Be so kind; show us the way there.

Befana: Oh, no! I’m so busy today. I can’t show you the way! Don’t ask me, I see no reason to leave my housework!

King 3: OK, we’ll find the way to that holy place. But you’ll be punished for that. From now and on every Christmas you will roam about the country trying to find Christ’s holy face among the children’s.

We three kings

King 1: Greetings. I want to wish you happiness & joy. I offer you, the parents of the child Jesus, my gift of gold. May the child have a life rich in experience.

King 2: Congratulations, Mary & Joseph. The gift of spices & perfumes is for you, my new prince. I have come many miles to find you. We know you are special & have only the best wishes for you.

King 3: Mary & Joseph, thank you for that wonderful baby. I have come many miles to bring you this gift. May you be good parents & enjoy this child’s life. Happy birthday, baby Jesus!

Mary: Thank you very much!

Madlen: Оh, dear Angels! I’ve come here to fall on my knees before my King, but I’m so poor, that I have nothing to give him.

Angel 6: Take these Christmas roses, my poor girl. You will be rewarded for your belief. God will bless toy!

Angel 1: Today is Christmas Eve. Look! Everything is rush and hustle! Streets are decorated with lights. In homes there is a great air of expectation. Children are decorating Christmas trees and preparing Christmas socks. They hang a socks at the end of the bed in the belief  that Santa will fill it with toys & good things during the night. When they wake up they are rarely disappointed.

Dance

Angel 2:
Oh, hush! Can you hear those bells? That is Santa with his red–nosed reindeer Rudolph coming.

Angel 6: Rudolph, the red–nosed reindeers
Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows!

Angel 3 All the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names,
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games!
Angel 4 Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say…
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight

Angel 5 Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
Rudolph, the red–nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history!

Angel 6: The Romans also celebrated this holiday. People drank a lot, went wild & gave pre3sents to each other.

Angel 1: In 1399 the king Richard II of England had a rather large Christmas dinner. The meal included 28 oxen, 300 sheep & deer & thousand of chicken. The feast lasted for 3 days! There were 1000 cooks to prepare the meal.

Angel 2: Scientists say that Christmas trees are edible. The needles are a good source of vitamin c.

Angel 3: About 2 million tones of Christmas presents are given every year.

Santa Claus. OK, OK! Those chimneys are so dirty! All are sleeping. Who’s there? Jonnie–boy. (Читает письмо Джонни). Let’s see if he is good that Jonnie. Oh, yes. He helps his little sister to tie her shoes, he doesn’t forget to feed the homeless cat and he behaves well at school. So, get your Christmas gift. Merry Christmas! Bye!
