9.Вывод по теме урока.

Good morning pupils! Sit down. Today we are going to speak about the natural world, about water and air pollution, weapon, radiation. And at the end of the lesson we”ll make a conclusion what we can do to save our planet and survive ourselves. Let’s start our lesson.

At first let’s repeat the new words you have already leant after me.

На доске записаны слова данного раздела:

an environment

to pollute

pollution

to cause

a destruction

a shortage

a population

a dump

to dump

waste

poison

to poison

nuclear

a weapon

to survive

safe

Now I want to check if you learnt the words carefully. Close your books, please. I ‘ll read a definition and you must name the word.

1) To make the water, air, atmosphere dirty and dangerous for people and animals fo live in or to use

2) It is used to kill or hurt people in a fight or a war.

3) Not dangerous,

4) The air, water and land on Earth, which can be harmed by man's activity,

5) The number of people living in a particular area,

6) A place where unwanted waste is taken and left,

7) A thing that can cause death or serious illness if you eat or drink it.

Thank you very much. Now let’s listen your short reports which you have prepared at home. What are the most important ecological problems nowadays?

Thank you pupils, tell me please:

What are the most important ecological problems nowadays?

Thank you, let’s discuss them, answer my questions, please.

1. What does the word environment mean?

2. What are the most serious environmental problems?

3. What makes sea water dangerous nowadays?

 4. Why is it dangerous to dump industrial waste in the sea?

5. Why was the Statue of Liberty in New York damaged?

 6. Where does air pollution in the cities mostly come from?

 7. Why is it not safe to be in direct sunlight in certain places?

 8. Why are nuclear power stations dangerous?

Thank you now let’s do the crossword which you can see at the blackboard. Find the words connected with animals and their life.

Let’s have a rest.

We listen a poem and try to repeat it in the lines, one row after another.

Speak about the problems of pollution, weapon, noise and radiation as you see them.

Think and say if you change your own environment for the better or for the worse.

Thank you very much, I liked  your dialogues. Now let’s write a little.Open your workbooks and let’s do exercises.

Let’s make a conclusion. What must and must not we do to save our planet and nature, air and water and to survive in future?

Thank you for the lesson!

Good morning, teacher!

Учащиеся хором за учителем повторяют слова, ранее изученные по данному разделу.

 (to pollute)

Учащиеся по очереди делают доклады на данную тему.

Water pollution.

There is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. The Pacific Ocean, especially, has suffered from nuclear pollution because the French Government tests nuclear weapons there. Many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste. Britain alone dumps 250,000 tons of industrial waste straight into the North Sea. This poisons

and kills fish and sea animals. "Nuclear-poisoned" fish can be eaten by people.

Many rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can't live in them. There is not enough oxygen in the water. In such places all the birds leave their habitats and many plants die.  If people drink this water they can die

too. It happens so because factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into rivers. So they poison the water. Factories use clean water. After the water is used it can become poison which goes back into rivers and seas.

Air pollution.

When the Americans decided to clean up the Statue of Liberty in 1986, the first thing they had to do was to make a hole in her nose and take away the acid rain1 that had collected inside. The polluted air of New York had mixed with the rain and damaged the Statue badly. And you certainly know that most of the pollution in big cities comes from cars and buses.

Ultraviolet radiation.

More and more often people are told not to spend too much time in direct sunlight, because ultraviolet radiation from the sun can cause skin cancer.

Normally the ozone layer3 in the atmosphere protects us from such radiation, but if there are holes in the ozone layer ultraviolet radiation can get to the earth. Many scientists think that these holes are the result of air pollution.

Nuclear pollution.

Nuclear power stations can go wrong and cause nuclear pollution. This happened in Windscale in Britain, in Three Mile Island in the USA and Chernobyl in the former Soviet Union. Nuclear pollution cannot be seen but its effects can be terrible.

To make air clean again we need good filters at nuclear power stations, at factories and plants and also in cars and  buses.

-pollution in its many forms (water pollution, air pollution, nuclear pollution);

-noise from cars, buses, planes.

-destruction of wildlife and the beauty of the countryside;  -shortage of natural resources

-the growth of population.

Air, water and land, in which people, animals and plants live.

I MEANT TO DO MY WORK TODAY

(by Richard Le Yalleinne)

I meant to do my work today —

But a brown bird sang in the apple t:

And a butterfly flitted1 across the field,

And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land

Tossing the grasses to and fro,

And a rainbow held out its shining hand —

So what could I do but laugh and go?

Учащиеся работают в парах,составляют короткие диалоги по вопросам учебника упражнения 26 стр.62-63,затем представляют их у доски.

1. We speak about water shortages. What do you use water for? Do you waste any? Do you often take hot baths? wash clothes? How much water do you use on washing?

2.   Water pollution is becoming quite bad. Have you ever thrown anything into a river or a lake? If so, what? Why? Have you ever washed your bicycle in a river or a lake? How dirty did it make the water?

3.  People use a lot of washing powder. Have you ever done it? Does your family do it? Do you think it does harm to our rivers and seas?

4.  Burning makes air pollution worse. Have you ever burnt rubbish or autumn leaves?

5.  Most of the pollution in big cities comes from cars. They also make a lot of noise. Has your family got a car? How often do you use it?

6.  One of the environmental problems is a shortage of food. People in some countries even suffer from hunger. Does your family buy much food? Do you sometimes throw it away? How much of it do you waste?

Find  the odd word out:

1.  heat, sunshine, shower, mammal, weather

2.  huge, daily, misty, praise, fragile

3.  disaster, mess, society, crisis

4.  birds, mammals, insects, shortage, fish

5.  pollution, cooperation, greenhouse, population

6.  pollute, produce, destroy, damage, atmosphere, poison

Match the two columns to get a correct sentence. Write the sentences down.

1.  If nuclear power stations go wrong,

2.  If people stay in direct sunlight for a long time,

3. If there is no ozone layer in the atmosphere,

4. If people use filters at nuclear power stations,

5. If factories dump their waste rivers,

6. If people want to survive,

1.  we won't be protected from ultraviolet radiation.

2.  they will clean air again.

3.  they will cause nuclear pollution.

4.  they will  get  ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

5.  they will solve the environmental problems.

6.  they will become dirty and poisoned.

Both clean air and clean water are necessary for our health. If people want to survive they must solve these problems quickly. Man is beginning to understand that his environment is not just his own town or country, but the whole earth. That's why people all over the world think and speak so much about ecology.

We must:

-save nature

- solve problems

-clean air, water, use filters

-protect nature

-survive

-keep resourses

We must not:

-destroy

-dump

-pollute

-destruct

-poison

damage
