Прочитайте определения  А – Е  и установите их соответствие рубрикам   1-6,   к которым они могут быть отнесены. В задании имеется одна лишняя рубрика.

Определения

      Smithsonian Institution is the largest museum complex in the world and the major center for research and education. The Smithsonian consists of 16 museums, the National Zoo, and several prominent research centers.

1. The National Air and Space Museum has aeronautical exhibits that include the original craft used by the Wright Brothers and the Mercury capsule in which astronaut John Glenn orbited the Earth.
2. The Arts and Industries Building and  the Freer Gallery of Art house fine collections of American and Asian art.
3. The National Museum of African Art was the first museum in the United States devoted exclusively to African art.
4. The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden contains notable paintings and sculptures by 19th- and 20th- century European  and American artists.
5. The Museum of Natural History houses  many of the world’s    most famous gems, and the National Museums of American History traces the development of the United States through scientific, technological and cultural exhibitions.

                                                    Princess Diana

1. Diana died in a car crash on the 31-th of August, 1997. Her lover, Dodi Al Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul, were also killed in the accident in a tunnel under the Place de l’Alma in Paris after the group were being chased by paparazzi.
2.   When Diana was twelve she attended West Heath School in Kent. She left at the age of sixteen and spent a few years In Switzerland.
3.   In 1979 Diana worked as a nanny and as an assistant at the Young England kindergarten. At that time she got acquainted with Prince Charles and they started seeing each other.   
4. Princess Diana appeared a glamorous Princess who won the hearts of the nation, as well as international acclaim. She did a lot of charitable work and in 1989 she opened the Landmark AIDS Centre.
5. Diana Frances Spencer was born in Sandringham, Norfolk on the 1-th of July in 1961. She was the youngest daughter of Viscount Althorp. Diana had two elder sisters, Jane and Sarah, and a younger brother, Charles.
6.  Princess Diana continued her charitable work and became a campaigner against landmines making trips to Angola and Bosnia.
7.  On the 29-th of July, 1981, about 600,000 people filled the streets of London on Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer's wedding day. They married at St Paul's Cathedral. In less than a year Charles and Diana had their first child, William, on the 21-th of June, 1982. A second son, Prince Harry, was born on the 15-th of September, 1984.
8.    Diana was only six years old when her parents separated: her mother, Frances, left to join a wealthy businessman. Diana and her brother, Charles, spent much of their childhood moving from one parent to the other.

                                           Memories of Christmas

  For me, Christmas always began 1____________________, windy month of November. My sister, Alison, and I sat down in front of the fire and wrote a letter to Father Christmas telling him about all the presents we wanted.                              Ethnic Wedding – what to do and  what  not  to  do

• If a friend gets an invitation to a wedding, you can go with him/her, even if you don’t receive an invitation yourself.
• The times of the wedding ceremony and the reception are both on the invitation. However, you shouldn’t go to the ceremony because it is only for close family. If you really want to see it’ you should ask first. Everyone can go to the reception afterwards.
• Nowadays, Indonesian women don’t have to cover their heads, but they usually wear traditional  clothes.

     This year saw  the third TAKE OUR DAUGHTERS TO WORK DAY: days when         parents takes their daughters into the office to give them a taste of real work!

Elena, 13, went to work with her father, a journalist. This is what she said:

“Everyone was really busy, so for most of the morning I played on Dad’s computer. Then his secretary came and gave me some things do to: faxing, photocopying and so on. “We started really early – we left home at 7.30 and went to Dad’s office in town, but he just needed to pick up some work there, so we had a quick cup of coffee and then we drove out of London to a meeting. I didn’t understand what the meeting was about at all! We had lunch in an Italian restaurant on the way back to the office, then in the afternoon I listened to people doing research on the phone – that was really interesting. It was good to see what Dad does – he works really hard  and always comes home late and tired – but I don’t think I’d like to do it. I want to study science  when I ‘m older.”
