4.  –Teacher: Well, friends. Welcome to our country.

More than five billion people live in some 200 different countries and territories of the world which are full of interesting places and sights to visit.

Can you tell what the aim of your visit to our country is.

- English student: - We have come to Russia because we are interested in your country,   Russian culture.

Teacher: Russia is one of the biggest countries in the world. It has its own national symbols and emblems. It is a country of very old traditions. I think that foreign friends would like to get more information.

PROJECT “RUSSIA” (Мультимедийная презентация)

- Russia is one of the biggest countries in the world. It is situated in Europe and in Asia. Its total area is over 17 million square kilometers. The population of Russia is about 150 million people.

Russia has a double-headed eagle as its symbol. It was introduced in Russia in 1497 by Tsar Ivan the Third.

The Russian national flag has three white stripes on it. The stripes are white, blue and red. The upper stripe is white, the middle one is blue and the red stripe is at the bottom. These colours have always been symbolic in Russia: white  - noble and sincere, blue – honest and devoted to friends, family and to the country. The red colour means love and courage.

-Teacher:Tastes differ, they say.Every country has  its traditional dishes. What about meals in Russia?

-Student: The usual meals in Russia are breakfast, dinner, supper.  special Russian dish is “pyelmeni”, a kind of ravioli-small cases of pasta containing meat.

Teacher: Thank you for your information.

The beauty of the ancient Russian towns, their historical and architectural monuments, the gilded domes of the cathedrals, and the autumnal gold of the forests attracts tourists from all over the world.

Now the floor is given to S.

PROJECT  “ The heart of Russia “(Мультимедийная презентация)

As you know, the capital of our country is one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in the world. The population of the city is about 10 million people.

But I must say, that Moscow is dear not only to Moscovites, but to the Russian  citizens of any nationalities.

Moscow is a political centre, where the government of our country works. Moscow is an industrial centre, too. There are many factories and industrial plants in it.

Moscow is a cultural centre. There are a lot of theatres, museums, institutes and universities, libraries and cinemas in Moscow.

THE KREMLIN is the heart of Moscow. It is a fortress built of red brick at the beginning of the 16th century. It was the home of the Russian Tsars. The most important and famous Russian churches are in it. Nowadays the Russian Government works there. Red Square, where you can see St.Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s Mausoleum and other places of interest, is in front of the Kremlin.

THE BOLSHOY THEATRE is the most famous theater in Moscow. Tourists from many countries come here to see its world famous opera ballet performances. The best Russian ballet dancers and opera singers act on its stage. The building of the theatre is very beautiful.

- S. –I have a present to you. It is a Russian folk dance “Valenki” –

-Teacher:I think that we must invite our friends to our region and show them the beauty of our nature , the riches of our land and hospitality of our people.

From my point of view the North Caucasus is one of the most picturesque areas in Russia.

The southern and central districts, which is the largest part of the region, are mountainous.

In the south, the snow-capped peaks of the Great Caucasus are wrapped in cloud or, in fine weather, they sparkle in the sun under the  blue skies.

From east to west, the mountains stretch across the region for more than a hundred kilometers.

Here at the northern end of the Great Caucasian Range is the Dombai Valley, where evergreen forests are neighbour to fantastically shaped glaciers, mountain streams and waterfalls.

The Dombai Valley has long been known as one of the most beautiful valleys in the world.

Stavropol region  is considered to be one of the most beautiful regions in the North Caucasus.

PROJECT”STAVROPOL” (Мультимедийная презентация)

The history of Stavropol dates back to the end of the 18-th century. As afortress it was founded in 1777 by Suvorov.

Stavropol is the administrative, modern, cultural and economic centre. It has grown from a small settlement into a beautiful modern town.

Many historical monuments and places of interests may attract the attention of both Russian and foreign guests.

You’ll admire the green shade streets and squares. Now town is growing higher and wider. New blocks of flats are built in the North, South,East and West of Stavropol. Many Decebrists lived in Stavropol. There is much  in Stavropol that is connected with the history of the Civil War and the heroic struggle of the people against Nazis.

Teacher: Sorry to say foreign tourists seldom come to our countryside.

Well, dear friends! Don’t be afraid of coming to Russia. Many foreigners, who have visited our country, come back to Russia again and again, finding in this world something which is lacking in their own. Many of them begin not only to love the country, but also to understand it.

Some of us consider that life in the city is much easier than in the country, it is never dull in the city. But, dear friends, if you are against noisy and crowded towns and cities, if you like to be close to nature , please, listen to the representatives of the countryside.
