Do we really learn from our mistakes?

Theoretically scientists believe that learning from our mistakes helps a person grow and improve. But is this true in practice?

Personally, I should admit that this saying is very well-known and therefore frequently used. But in fact I do not think that this proverb really works. I guess that in many situations we do not really learn from our mistakes. The spin of life, all the events that occur in reality are so hectic and unexpected that we do not actually have time to concentrate and recollect all the mistakes we have ever made and as the result to produce the only one intelligent decision. Usually, if the problem happens we make up our mind and choose the way of salvation on the spur of the moment.

On the whole it is the matter of perception and attitude. Smart people do not wait to commit mistakes and then learn from them but also learn from the mistakes of other people. We do not have to hurt our fingers on a lighted candle to learn that fire burns but could have easily learnt from experience of others. As for the people who keep committing the same mistakes again and again, we can suppose that they are sitting on the learning curve, with no intentions of getting down to have a relook and mend their ways.

To sum up the idea, I would like to say that evaluating and reflecting what you have done is a crucial step toward self-improvement. And it is a step that takes time. Eventually, we learn more from our failures than our triumphs. I believe this is because we pay more attention when we make a mistake, will spend more time contemplating why it is wrong, and want to figure out how to make it better or to make it right.

To crown it all, I would like to support the essay by the statement of Nitzesche, who wrote about life just being a repetition, and it is strange to make the same mistakes twice. But in fact they are not the same because every time we are different.
