British students:: Just the Tower of London. It was a fortress, a royal place and later a prison.

Russian students: Many centuries ago all population of Tula lived in the Kremlin. The first street in Tula was situated in the Kremlin, it was called Bolshaya  Kremlyovskaya Street. There are two cathedrals on the territory of Tula Kremlin- Uspenskiy Cathedral and Bogoyavlenskiy Cathedral. Now, Tula Arms museum is situated in Bogoyavlenskiy Caththedral.

British students: How many towers are there in the Kremlin?

Russian students: Kremlin has 9 towers. Four towers out of nine have gates.

British students: And when did the history of Tula begin?

Russian students: -Tula is one of the ancient towns of our country. The history of Tula began in the year 1146. 2011 we celebrated 865 th anniversary.

-Tula region is situated in the central part of the East European plain on the Middle Russian Hills, Southward of Moscow. Tula region is bounded by Moscow, Oryol, Ryazan, Kaluga and Lipetsk regions. Tula is in the centre of Tula region.

British students: London is more than two thousand years old. It is one of the largest cities in the world. It lies on both sides of the River Thames. About seven million people live here. London consists of three parts: the City, the West End and the East End.

Russian students: And what is the City?

British students: The City is the heart of the business and financial life of the country. Most of London banks and offices are located in this part of the capital. It is the oldest part of London. It is small but it is very important. More than2 thousand years ago a town was built here. Now thousands of people come here every morning to work in large offices.

Russian students: What is the West End?

British students: The West End is best known to rich tourists. You will find the best theatres, clubs, museums, restaurants, shops and hotels here.

Russian students: What is the East End?

British students: In the East End people of all countries live. Very large riverside docks here make London one of the three largest ports in the world. Many factory workers and dockers live and work in the East End of London. You will not find big parks and gardens in this part of the city. What is Tula famous for?

Russian students:-Tula is famous for samovars. -Tula is tamous for arms.- Tula is famous for gingerbread. –Tula is famous for accordions.-Tula is famous for Yasnaya Polyana. - Tula is famous for the Kulikovo Pole. .-Tula is famous for well-known people who lived and worked in Tula such as L.Tolstoy, V.Polenov, A. Bolotov, A. Dargomyzhskiy, V. Veresaev, I. Turgenev.

What would you like to suggest to visit in Tula?

Russian students: There is no need to rack one᾽s brains about outings in Tula as the cultural life is intense. I would recommend you to visit the world – known museum - manor Yasnaya Polyana which is situated fourteen kilometres to the South from Tula. Yasnaya Polyana is the country estate where the great Russian writer count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy lived, wrote and spend most of his long and eventful life.

The state museum  «Yasnaya Polyana» keeps all that was connected with the life and creativity of L. N. Tolstoy. Visitors will have a chance to walk in the charming birch and time trees lanes, as well as ponds, and most of all feel the spirit of freedom that Tolstoy appreciated so much.

We know that Lev Tolstoy knew  English very well. He took up English seriously and then read all Dickens᾽s novels in the original as well as many other English books. Tolstoy visited London. In London Tolstoy attended one of first lectures given by Charles Dickens.

Teacher: Among the main tasks, which he set himself in his youth. were to study English. «Learn French, Russian, German, English, Italian and Latin». Much of the program was carried out.

In 1857 and 1860-61 Lev Tolstoy left abroad to learn how people lived there and what they taught in their schools. The schools were being reformed in Russia at the time. L. Tolstoy taught a lot at schools himself.

Russian students: The next place to suggest is the Kulikovo Pole which is the unique memorial object, the most natural and historical complex, which includes numerous archeological memorials, architectural monuments and sculptures, memorials of nature. The Kulikovo battle of 1380 is the most important event in the history of the medieval Russia. The Golden Horde troops were completely destroyed. The Kulikovo  battle became the  turning point in the struggle of Russia against the Tatar-Mongol Yoke and influenced the formation  of the united Russian state.

Russian students: The next place which is   the Museum of  V.Polenov. The famous Russian artist  Vasilisiy Polenov lived and worked in the Tula province. Not far from Tula on the banks of the Oka river there is the Museum of Polenov.

Teacher: Thank you very much about interesting information about your hometown Tula. Lets speak about the history of Great Britain and sights of London.

British students: As you know the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. Great Britain has four historic parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The capital of England is London. The floral symbol is the red rose.

The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The floral symbol is the thistle. Edinburgh is famous for its castles. Golf is Scottish natural sport and it seems to have originated in this country. Scotland is the land of myths and mysteries. Every castle has its ghost. The national costume of Scotland is the kilt.

And of course everyone knows about the Loch Ness Monster. «Nessie» is said about six meters long, with a long, thin neck. Scientists have investigated the Loch but no scientific explanation of the mystery has been given.

The capital of Wales is Cardiff. The floral symbol is the daffodil or the leek. The landscape of Wales is very beautiful. Welsh is an ancient Celtic language. Welsh is the official language and  is used in the law courts.

The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The floral symbol is the shamrock. Northern Ireland has a strong cultural tradition. It has its own Art Council, orchestras, theatres, ballet and opera companies.

Russian students: What can you say about sights of London?

British students: St.Pauls Cathedral, one of the greatest churches, is situated not far from the Tower.

The Tower was build by William the Conqueror who conquered England in 1066. He was crowned at Westminster Abeey.

In Westminster Abbey are many English outstanding statesmen, painters and poets  buried.

In the British Museum you can see paintings of William Turner one of the world greatest landscape painters. William Turner is considered to be one of the world greatest painters. He was interested in light and colour effects. William Turner is considered to be one of the world greatest painters. He was interested in light and colour effects. The water - colour «Fishmen at Sea» is now at Gate Gallery.

Russian students: As for me I would like to visit Stonehenge. I know Stonehenge is a mysterious circle of giant stones in southern England. Some of the stones weigh over 25 tons. Most historians agree that it was built as a temple but it was used as an astronomical tool.

Teacher:  Out tour is over. I hope very much that you have enjoyed this tour. You see that we have much in common: we speak English, we learn and like English, we are interested in Russia and Britain. And the most important fact that we live on the planet the Earth which we must save. Let us sing the famous song  of M. Jackson «Heal the world»

Michael Jackson - Heal The World Исцели этот мир

There's a place in
Your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could
Be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need
To cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow

There are ways
To get there
If you care enough
For the living
Make a little space
Make a better place...

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

If you want to know why
There's a love that
Cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares for
Joyful giving
If we try
We shall see
In this bliss
We cannot feel
Fear or dread
We stop existing and
Start living

Then it feels that always
Love's enough for
Us growing
So make a better world
Make a better world...

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

And the dream we were
Conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we
Once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep
Strangling life
Wound this earth
Crucify its soul
Though its plain to see
This world is heavenly
Be gods glow

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart
I feel you are all
My brothers
Create a world with
No fear
Together we cry
Happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords
Into plowshares

We could really get there
If you cared enough
For the living
Make a little space
To make a better place...

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

There are people dying
If you care enough
For the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

You and for me (11x)
