Famous People

(урок английского языка в 6 классе)

Тема урока:  Знаменитые люди Британии и России.

Тип урока:     комплексный.

Дидактическая цель:  создать условия для развития умений аудирования, чтения,  

                        говорения, письма.  

Цели по содержанию:  

  1. Образовательная:    совершенствовать лексические навыки по теме;                                              

        развивать умения  аудирования с общим пониманием,

                                              чтения с полным и точным пониманием прочитанного,

говорения (умение использовать услышанную и прочитанную        информацию в собственных высказываниях),

письма (умение делать выписки из текста для заполнения таблицы и использования в собственных высказываниях).

      2.    Развивающая:          развивать познавательный интерес, иноязычные способности,  

           внимание, логическое мышление, кругозор учащихся.

      3.   Воспитательная:        воспитывать уважение к достижениям знаменитых людей       Великобритании и России; воспитывать чувство гордости за свою малую родину и выдающихся земляков; воспитывать культуру сотрудничества при работе в группах.

Формы организации познавательной деятельности: фронтальная, индивидуальная,            

        групповая.

Средства обучения:            учебник Биболетовой М. З. “Enjoy English”;

                                              раздаточный материал – карточки с заданиями;

                                              портреты знаменитых людей.

Структура урока:  

 I   блок – целевой.

      1. Оргмомент.

      2. Речевая зарядка.

      3. Целеполагание.

 II блок – процессуальный.

  1. Актуализация лексического материала по теме.
  2. Развитие умения аудирования и использования полученной информации в устных высказываниях.
  3. Развитие умения читать и совершенствование лексических навыков.
  4. Развитие умений устной речи и письма на основе прочитанной информации.

III блок – аналитический.

  1. Подведение итогов урока.
  2. Информация о домашнем задании.
  3. Рефлексия.

Ход урока

I БЛОК

1. Оргмомент.

Good morning, boys and girls! Glad to see you. How are you today? Are you ready to start our lesson? Let’s begin.

2. Речевая зарядка.

I want you to look at the picture. What building can you see in it?

Right you are. It’s one of the most popular museums in London – Madame Tussaud’s Museum.

Can you tell us what visitors can see there?

That’s correct. The museum contains the largest waxworks collection of famous people in the world. Can you name some of them?

3. Постановка цели урока.

Do we have such museums in our country?

Do you think it is necessary to found such a museum in our region? What famous people would be there?  Share your ideas.

Do you know much about them? So, what shall we discuss at the lesson today?

So, the theme of our lesson is “Famous British and Russian People”.

II БЛОК

1. Актуализация лексического материала.

First let’s remember the words which will be necessary for you at the lesson.

Exercise 1.    Who can be famous?

Use different noun suffixes and form the words which mean jobs and professions. Make the necessary changes. Work in groups at the blackboard.

(noun suffixes -ian,  -man, -ist, -er, -or are printed on the cards)

2.  Аудирование с пониманием основного содержания.

Exercise 1.    Look at the portraits of famous British people. Listen to the information about these people and match the stories with the portraits. One portrait is extra.

(the portraits are shown on the blackboard: William Shakespeare, John Lennon, Agatha Christie, Joseph Turner, Charlie Chaplin, Charles Darwin, Winston Churchill.)

  1. He is an outstanding English writer. He was born in England in 1564. When he was 20 he went to London and became an actor. Then he began to write plays for the theater and became famous. He wrote 37 plays and many beautiful poems. His most famous plays are “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet”.
  2.  He is a popular English singer, guitar-player and song-writer. He was a member of the world-famous English pop-group of the 60s. Their most well-known song is “Yesterday”.
  3. She is a talented writer of popular books and plays. She was born in England in 1890. She didn’t go to school, her mother taught her at home. She wrote her first detective novel in 1920. It was about Hercule Poirot, a bright detective. Her other main detective was Miss Marple.
  4. He is a great English artist, master of water-color. He was born in 1775. When he was 15 years old, he exhibited his first picture. He was fond of nature and traveling. He is famous for wonderful colors on his landscapes and sea-pictures.
  5. He is a bright scientist. He was born in 1809. At school he was fond of chemical experiments. He studied at Cambridge University. During the 5-year voyage he studied many different kinds of plants and animals. He is famous for his theory of evolution.
  6. He is a gifted English actor. He was born in England in 1889. He began to act in the theater when he was 5 years old. Then he went to America where he became famous. He played in silent films. He is famous for creating a language of face and body. His best films are “City Lights” and “Modern Times”.

Let’s check up the task. Who was the first (second, etc.) text about?

Exercise 2.   Listen to the texts for the second time and answer the questions about these people.

3.Работа с текстами (чтение с полным пониманием и совершенствование лексических навыков).

Russian province is rich in famous people too, isn’t it? For example, many outstanding people were born in Vyatka, among them writers, painters, singers, scientists.

Exercise 1. What do you know about such people: Alexander Grin, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, brothers Vasnetsovs, Victor Savinykh?

Brothers Vasnetsovs

    Victor Vasnetsov is a 1)_____ Russian artist. He  2)______ in Vyatka province in 1848. He had four 3)_______ .

Alexander Grin

    Alexander Grin (Grinevsky) is a 1)________ Russian writer. He was born in 1880 in the  2)______ of Slobodskoy. Soon the family went to Vyatka. Alexander 3)_______ one of the town schools and in 1896 left his home town.

Victor Petrovich Savinykh

Tsiolkovsky

     Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky is an 1)________ scientist, the father of the theory of rocket flying in space. He   2)____  ______ in 1857 in the village of  Izhevskoye, but he spent seven years of his life in Vyatka. Tsiolkovsky 3)________ in Vyatka gymnasium up to March 1873.

     When he lived in Vyatka, he created a lot of new interesting 4)________, for example, a water bike. Tsiolkovsky’s idea of a spaceship was born in Vyatka, too. He worked at this problem for more than sixty 5)________ .
