I. Аудирование.

Long, long ago a boy lived in the town of York in England. His name was Robinson Crusoe. York is not near the sea, so Robinson did not see big ships. But he wanted to go to sea in a ship. He wanted to go to other countries to see new people and to see how they lived. Robinson’s father did not like his son’s idea. He often said to him: “People are happier when they stay at home. Your brother went to sea five years ago, and we have never seen him again. You know that, I will not let you go to sea.”

Day after day Robinson thought about the sea. “I must find the captain of a ship,” – he thought. “I shall ask him to give me work, - any work that a boy can do.” He didn’t want to listen to his father.

One day Robinson Crusoe met a boy. This boy’s father was the captain of a ship. The boy often went to sea with his father and he fold Robinson many interesting things about other countries. “Come to sea with us Robinson,” – said the boy one day. “Our ship is ready now.” Robinson was happy. He went to sea with them and saw many countries and met many interesting people.

You can read about his adventures in the book “The adventures of Robinson Crusoe”. This book was written by Daniel Defoe, the famous English writer.

A letter from Brighton

20 Green Street,

Brighton, England.

Dear Olga,

I was very glad when my Russian teacher found me a pen – friend in Moscow. This is my first letter and I am going to tell you something about myself.

I am fourteen years old and I am toll. I have blue eyes, and my nose is large. My hair is brown, and it is short. My mother says I am thin.

There are five of us in our family: my mother and father, my elder brother, who is sixteen, and my little sister, who is seven.

My brother’s name is Peter and my sister’s name is Peggy. Peggy is short for Margaret.

Peter and I go to the same school, but Peggy goes to another school, a school for small children. When she is eleven, she will go to our school.

We live in Brighton, which is by the sea in the south of England. It is not very far from London. We can go to London by train or by bus.

Our house is not large. It has three floors with two rooms on each floor. There is a nice garden at the back and a very small one in front.

My father likes gardening and spends much time growing roses and other flowers. We have one apple – tree in the back garden. My mother lover flowers and we always have them in the house.
