Тема «The USA and Russia Federation, geographical position and symbols»

Цели:

Образовательная цель: усовершенствование, повышение качества знаний учащихся.

Развивающая цель: развитие навыков устной речи, чтения, монологической речи.

Воспитательная цель: поддержание интереса к учению и формированию познавательной активности.

Задачи: знакомить с новой лексикой, развитие навыков устной диалогической и монологической речи, чтения.

Коррекционный компонент: Усвоение словесных обозначений, их понимание и активное включение в экспрессивную речь. Расширения и активизации словарного запаса. Формирования грамматически правильной речи. Исправление речевого дефекта, преодолевая речевой негативизм.

Оборудование: кроссворд, изображение символов России и Америки, УМК О.В. Афанасьева И.В. Михеева «Английский язык» 4 год обучения.

Ход урока

Good morning it's time to rise,

Stand up and wipe your sleepy eyes.

Reach and stretch for the sky,

Hold your hands way up high.

Bend your body and touch the ground,

Stand up straight, now turn around.

Point to your eyes, point to your nose,

Jump up and down and touch your toes.

Clap your hands, stomp your feet,

Let's start the day, now find your seat.

The plan of our lesson is to:

• Revise the words on the topic «America»
• Learn some facts about the geography of USA
• Pay attention on symbols of USA and Russian Federation.

Now I will give you a crossword. Your task is to solve it.

Symbols of U.S. Government:

The Bald Eagle

The bald eagle is a large, powerful, brown bird with a white head and tail. The Founding Fathers chose the bald eagle to be the national bird of the United States in 1782. This majestic bird can only be found in North America.

The word «bald» does not mean that this bird has no feathers. Instead, it comes from the word piebald, an old word which means «marked with white».

Usually it is thought that the 50 stars of the USA flag represent the 50 different states. The red and white stripes are the USA national colors.

The color red is symbol of courage, enthusiasm, valor, blood and life. Then the color blue represents the azure sky and symbolizes the respect for God. The white color in the USA flag on the other hand means the purity and peace.

Well, the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies of the U.S.A. It used to be 1 stripe and star for each state, but with each new state that joined, another stripe and star had to be added. Eventually, there were so many stripes, it was decided that there would be only 13 stripes to honor the first 13 colonies and just a star for each state.

We have double-headed eagle – symbolizes the power of the country. Interpretation of it is: white – frankness and generosity; blue – honesty and wisdom; red – courage and love.
