Цели и задачи:

1)      Обучить:

·         лексическим единицам (billion, Chinese, earth, million, native, population, second, Spanish, thousand, Arabic, Bangladesh, Bengali, Hindi, Japanese, Nigeria, official, Pakistan, Portuguese, Singapore)

·         навыкам общения в группе и в парах.

      2) Развивать:

·         умения и навыки грамматического и лексического оформления речи: знать слова и словосочетания по теме «English in the world»

·         лингвострановедческую компетенцию учащихся

      3) Воспитывать:

·         уважительное отношение к иноязычной культуре, к партнёрам по общению.

·         навыки коммуникативного общения и полиязыковой личности.

Good morning, children, good morning, teacher. I’m very glad to see you! We are going to talk about English language, its role in our life and the most popular languages. Let’s begin our lesson.

  1. Основная часть

Фонетическая зарядка.

Let’s read a small poem on the blackboard.

Put down your pillow under the willow,

Hang up your hat in the sun,

And lie down to snooze as long as you choose,

For the plowing and sowing are done.

Thank you. Well done!

Речевая зарядка.

And now look at the blackboard. Let’s pronounce numbers. 1, 10, 100, 1 000, 10 000, 100 000, 1 000 000, 10 000 000, 100 000 000, 1 000 000 000.

And now we are going to listen a radio programme The World In Languages. But look at the blackboard. Linguistic means языковой, лингвистический. You should listen to very attentively and try to find the missing information from the diagram.

So, let’s check. What is the top language? What is the second one? What is the third one?

Please, look at the diagram 1 again and tell me, how many people speak German? How many people speak Chinese? How many people speak Hindi? Hindi is one of the official languages in India. How many people speak Japanese? How many people speak Bengali? Bengali is the language of Bangladesh. How many people speak Portuguese?

Maybe you are tired. So, stand up and let’s play a game. I will show you and you should repeat after me. Let’s start!

Now you may sit down and look at the diagram 2. What do you think the green colour mean? Try to guess. What do you think the word native mean? Native means родной. Now listen to the tape very attentively.

So, what does the green colour mean? (the number of speakers of English as a native language)

Next. Look at this diagram again and tell me, please, what information is missing.

Let’s listen to the tape again and write down, please, the numbers. Let’s compare your results. Canada? (17 million) Australia? (14 million) New Zealand? (3 million)

Let’s find these countries on the world map.

Let’s listen to the tape and guess if we were right or wrong. Look at the diagram and tell me what information is missing. Listen to the tape one more time. Write down your numbers and compare it in pairs. Then we will check it all together.
