It is an international symbol, combining five parts of the world: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe . It was originally designed in 1912 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, co-founder of the modern Olympic Games. It was first used in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium .
