Slide 3

Four Temperaments is a psychological theory. In ancient times people believed that bodily fluids affect human personality and behaviors. The temperaments are sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic.

Slide 4

Sanguine

The sanguine temperament is impulsive and pleasure-seeking; sanguine people are sociable and charismatic. They tend to enjoy social gatherings, making new friends and tend to be boisterous. They are usually quite creative, they often daydream. However, it is hard for them to be alone. Sanguine can also mean sensitive, compassionate and thoughtful.

Sanguine personalities are usually  late, tend to be forgetful and sometimes a little sarcastic. They may lose interest in their new hobby when it is no more fun or exciting. They are talkative and not shy.

Slide 5

Choleric

The choleric temperament is ambitious and leader-like. They have a lot of aggression, energy, and passion, and try to inspire others. They often dominate people of other temperaments. Many great charismatic military and political figures were choleric.

They like to be in charge of everything. However, they are either highly disorganized or highly organized. They see the world either black or white. Though they are leaders they may fall into depression.

Slide 6

The melancholic

The melancholic temperament is introverted and thoughtful. Melancholics are very good at poetry and art.

They are very independent; a negative point is that they may forget about others when they very much into the things they are doing.

Slide 7

Phlegmatic

The phlegmatic temperament is relaxed and quiet. Phlegmatics are kind and affectionate. They may be very shy and often prefer stability in everything. They are relaxed, calm, rational, curious, and observant, qualities that make them good administrators.

Slide 8

The research was made by the school psychologist.

The table shows the percent composition of different temperaments in 3 forms.

Slide 9

There exists a more general classification of temperaments – introverts and extroverts.

Slide 10

Most people believe that an extrovert is a person who is friendly and outgoing. This is not the true meaning of extroversion. Basically, an extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people. This is the opposite of an introvert who is energized by being alone.

Extroverts feel bored when they are alone. An extrovert will use any chance to talk with someone else rather than sit alone and think. Extroverts tend to think as they speak, unlike introverts who think before they speak.

Slide 11

Introverts are more interested in their inner world of the mind. They enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings.

Introverts’ conversations are generally about ideas and concepts.

Introverts make up about 60% of the gifted population but only about 25-40% of the general population.

Slide 12
