Introduction Earth Day is an annual event , celebrated on April 22 , on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection . Let's celebrate Earth Day and understand the importance of preserving our earth this April 22.Here are 10 Earth Day tips for you .

1. DON'T LITTER ! This is obvious but some individuals really don ' t know what littering does to the environment.Have you ever driven down the highway ans see people picking up trash ? This is litter that has been thrown out of car windows or flown of trucks . Litter can harm and even kill animals which is bad for our environment . It can disrupt the balance of ecosystems , start fires and lead to major water pollution .

2. RECYCLE ! If you need to throw away something , be sure to put it in its correct place . Newspapers and such should be placed into the recycle bin , not the garbage can .

3. CONSERVE THE ENERGY ! Conserve lights , when you walk out of a room turn off the lights .

4 . SAVE THE WATER ! Save the water as best as you can . While brushing your teeth turn off the water . Take short showers , rather than long ones . Don ' t leave the water running when doing the dishes . Be sure to be aware of how much water you waste .

5. DONATE YOUR STUFF ! Instead of throwing away your old clothes and toys donate them to people in need . Not only this will make you feel pleased with yourself but it will help the environment too .

6. WALK OR RIDE YOUR BIKE ! C ars pollute the air , water and land . They also put carbon dioxide into the air . Instead of driving every where try walking or riding a b i c y cle .

7. AVOID STYROFOAM ! Styrofoam is non-biodegradable and therefore cannot be recycled . Avoid styrofoam as much as you can and try not to buy eggs that come in styrofoam containers .

8. GET FOOD FROM THE LOCAL MARKET ! Choose locally grown or organic foods . Choose food that are made close to home . When you choose foods that come from states for away that means that they are being flown or driven in on a truck . This means more carbon dioxide into the air . Choose organic foods that are made without chemicals .

9. REUSE ! Think twice before you throw something into the garbage can . Ask yourself if you can use it for something else first . Clean and save glass bottles or plastic jugs and reuse them as storage .
