• I’m very glad to see you.
• How are you?

• What season is it now?
• What winter holidays do you know?

• And now I want to ask you about another winter holiday. It is very popular in GB and in the USA and nowadays it is very popular in our country. Look and the screen.  (Слайд 1) What is it?

• What holiday am I talking about?
• What present can you give for St. Valentine’s Day?

• In some cases we can give presents for our family and our friends.  Do you go shopping for your friends’ presents?
• What presents do you buy?
• So, pupils, try to answer my question:

• Let’s work at our phonetics. I begin to read and then you will do it after me Repeat after me the following sounds and words:

The topic of our lesson is:

“Buying a present”

Look at the screen. There are some new words. (Слайд 4)

Learn the meaning:

euro [ˈjʊərəʊ]

ruble [ˈruːbəl]

expensive [ɪkˈspɛnsɪv]

wrap [‘ræp]

customer [ˈkʌstəmə]

puppet[ˈpʌpɪt]

draw [´drɔː]

be afraid [əˈfreɪd]

shop-assistant [ˈʃɒp əsɪstənt]

hand gliding plane [ˈɡlʌɪdɪŋ]

set [‘set]

 Now I begin to read, then you will do it after me. After it I want you to read them all together and individually.

Read and guess the meaning:

euro – евро

ruble- рубль

shop-assistant - продавец

hand gliding plane  - ручной самолет

shop-assistant - продавец

Pupils repeat the words after teacher.

Pupils read the word all together.

Pupil read the words individually.

Please open your student’s books at page 62.

There are some pictures there. These are some kinds of presents. Let call them. The first picture. What is it?

• How much is it?
• The next picture. What is it?
• How much is it?

At this page you can see ex. 2. Please read the task.(Page 62, ex. 2)

You see some sentences below.

Let’s read them and translate.

Now you should mark these sentences by letter “C” it means customer and letter “S” it means shop-assistant.

Then you will listen and check your answers.

• It is a table tennis set.
• It is 11 euro.
• It is a jigsaw puzzle.
• It is 18 euro.

Pupils read the task.

Pupils read the sentences and translate them.

Pupils do exercise, then listen and check.

(СЛАЙД 5)Now, boys and girls we start ex. 3. But firstly I want you to pay your attention at the screen. You see the word puzzle and word “piece”. How we can translate this word combination.

Please read the task.(Page 62, ex. 3). Now you are listening to the dialogue.

• Please answer: What does Greg buy for Judy?

• Well, pupils. It’s time to read the dialogue on the roles. (Who wants to be Greg? Who wants to be a shop assistant?

Pupils read the task an then they read the dialogue.

• Puzzle piece - фрагмент головоломки.

• He buys a puppet making set.

Pupils read the dialogue in pairs.

Children, imagine, you are going to the shop and buy a present for your friend. In pairs, act out the dialogue in ex. 3. Use the toys and prices in  the pictures above to help you.

Let’s listen to some of you.
