People dress up as witches, ghosts, devils, cats or bats. Houses are decorated with pumpkins with candles inside them. Some children follow the American custom called Trick or Treat.

They knock at your house and ask, “Trick or treat ?” If you give some money or some sweets ( a treat ), they go away. If not, they can play a trick on you like splashing water in your face.

The fifth one said, “ I’m ready for some fun!”
OOOOOoooooooo went the wind and out went the light,
And the five little pumpkins rolling out of sight …

IV.   Teacher .A scary story.

No Hallowe’en party is complete without a scary story. Usually people  crowd together around a fire on  Hallowe’en  night. And one person  tells in a low voice. Our pupils  will  tell you one.   “The leg”

The Leg

According to legend, every Halloween, a strange  old lady roams the streets, praying on children who are trick-or-treating alone. Some call her “The Leg Woman” .

One boy was on his own when he heard a rustling in the bushes next to him. An old woman with  black hair was holding a   terrible leg in her hands and waving it in his face.

“Do you want a leg?”, she cried. “Do you want a LEEEEG?”

The boy  began backing away from her. She persisted, asking him over and over if he wanted a leg.

Finally, the boy said “No! I don’t want a leg!”

A group of adults and children who were nearby, heard a horrible scream ringing out in the darkened street. They rushed around the corner and got the shock of their lives when they discovered a young boy lying on the ground in a pool of blood. His right leg had been completely ripped off at the hip.

If you meet the Leg Woman on Halloween night, be careful. She will come up to you and ask “Do you want a leg?”

If you answer “No”, she will tear off your leg and disappear. If you answer “Yes”, she will grab you and try to attach the severed leg she is carrying to your body.

The correct answer is “I want both my legs!”

Разыгрывание диалога по прослушанному рассказу

Let’s make up a polite dialogue between  this witch and  this poor boy

-Hello boy!

+Hello Madam!

  • Do you want  a leg? Please answer to my question! It’s so easy!

+Of course not! It’s disgusting ! Please , let me go!

  • Where can you go without one leg ? Ha – ha – ha !!
  • Is it Hallowe’en joke ?

VI .Teacher:  11.22 – 11.27  Hometask

Well done! Thank you! Oh! What is it? It is a telegram. So, boys and girls, you have just been selected to create a new monster for an upcoming scary movie. I have just created. Look  at it! Let’s describe it.

It’s your project ! Draw a monster. It will be your own personal creation.

Then you should name and describe it tell us what is its favorite thing to eat and do tell us where it lives and why. What can it do ?

(We  will organize an exhibition of pupils’ monsters, a contest “Whose monster is the most  funny ? Etc.)

VII .Teacher: One of the most popular traditions is trick-or-treating. Children go from house to house and ask for some sweets, fruit and so on. Listen to the song  about this tradition.

VIII. Teacher: OK. And do you want to play any special Halloween games? Here is one of the simplest one

Another game is called “Hide a Ghost”. Choose one child. He or she should go out of classroom and the rest of the class (“hiders”) will hide a toy ghost (you may take it from the Halloween tree). After that the hiders clap their hands louder and louder if a “seeker” comes near the ghost. Of course, the children exchange roles

IXTeacher: In our culture there is no such holiday as Halloween, but we have other similar holidays and traditions. On Christmas’ eve in some regions of our country children go from house to house and sing songs “kolyadky”. What else do you think children like doing on this day? (They enjoy wearing folk costumes, singing songs for treats, wearing scary masks, going from house to house, playing tricks on their friends and neighbors, telling scary stories etc.)

Conclusion.

Teacher: I want to thank all the participants for taking part in this lesson. You were very nice, clever and cheerful. Of course, you’ll get only excellent marks. Our lesson is over. Good-by.
