Hello! We are at  school № 26 which is located in Syktyvkar in Pechorskaya str.

Have you ever been to Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome? Of course, you haven’t. Would you like to see fairy birds, unusual animals or fantastic creatures?  Try to imagine that they still exist! Do you want to know where this wonderful place is?

If so, you are welcome to Art Studio “Raduzhka”! It’s a  mysterious world of make-believe!

Fantastic images, beautiful pictures, wall decorations and art works will attract your attention as soon as you enter the school.

“Raduzhka” was born 20 years ago. Its main goal is developing children’s creative potential skills and cross-cultural awereness. Around 1000 boys and girls have   benefited from its educational programme. Art studio opens its doors not only for child prodigies and gifted youngsters but for all the children who are eager to learn more about art.

The art teachers say: “There is a real need to develop the inner world and to promote spiritual demands.”  Their experience proves that all children are talented and with the right support are capable of achieving brilliant results!

             Art school curriculum includes many modules, such as work with clay, paper, batic and chalk. Students acquire different styles and techniques: oil paintings, water colours, still-lives and landscapes.

             Kids learn through images. The expression “A picture paints a thousand words” has real meaning to them. They like to draw or paint something in order to understand it.

            Art teachers are qualified and very friendly. They’ve  created home-like atmosphere for their talented pupils and are always ready to help them when they turn for advice. Most importantly, they define and develop artistic abilities of the child at the very early age and help him or her grow into a happy young artist!

            Adults take an active interest in the children’s lives, and spend much time together having fun and doing exciting things. Annual trips to Suzdal, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Novgorod  and other picturesque places have become a tradition as well as Christmas and Shrovetide celebrations.  It’s the exciting atmosphere of love and understanding that all admire!

          Remarkable paintings, detailed carvings, amusing toys and other art works have been highly acclaimed and exhibited at the National Gallery. They always attract great attention and it’s no wonder! They are amazing!

         Look at this beautiful girl! Her name is Ira Alieva. She is an Art studio student and she is the winner of the Art Contest  “ India Through My Eyes”. The contest was organized by the Indian Embassy in Saint- Petersburgh and drew a great number of young artists from different towns and cities of the north-western part of European Russia. The General Consul of India in Saint- Petersburgh came to Syktyvkar school 26 to celebrate Ira Alieva and her teachers on the victory and invited them to India!

           Ira and her friends say:

• I can’t imagine my life without painting. It means everything to me and it’s my favourite pastime. I can express all my moods and feelings. It makes me feel like someone totally understands me.
• At the lessons we talk about art and what’s new, what’s hot, you know. It’s a very big part of our lives.
• If I don’t draw or paint at least for a week, I really feel I’ve missed something great. It’s a kind of addiction to me.
• Painting lets you escape from the pressures of school and you just enjoy yourself for a while. It’s great!

      At the Art studio “Raduzhka” young people learn to understand other cultures, explore cultural values and attitudes, but most importantly, they find out about themselves and their own culture. Every day they just practice painting, drawing and making art works and they don’t mind because they’re getting really good. The idea that some people have loads of free time is just ridiculous for them! A good artist has to overcome many difficulties before he can succeed! They know that they gain valuable experience and later will have good options for their future career.            

               Don’t you agree that Ira and her friends seem really happy? Probably they won’t choose a career of an architect or a graphic designer, but they have the ability to come up with original and creative concepts and turn them into reality! That’s what really counts!
