– Good morning ladies and gentlemen! I am glad to see you ! Today we have a competition “ The star hour ”. The participants, introduce themselves, please. Let’s begin.

The first round. “The countries”

Task 1. The flags

You see the flags of different countries. Answer the questions, please.

1. Which is the flag of Great Britain?

2. Which is the flag of Canada?

3. Which is the flag of Scotland?

4. Which is the flag of USA?

Task 2. The symbols

You see the symbols of different countries. Answer the questions, please.

1. What is the national symbol of Scotland? (a thistle )

2. What is the national symbol of Wales? ( a daffodil )

3. What is the national symbol of England? ( a red rose )

4. What is the national symbol of Ireland? ( a shamrock )

The second round. “The history”

Task 1. The famous people

You can see the names of outstanding people. Answer the questions, please.

1. Who wrote 75 detective stories?

2. Who invented the telephone?

3. Who is famous for his stories about Sherlock Holmes?

4. He is famous American actor and producer. Who is he?

Task 2. The holidays.

You can see 6 holidays. You should guess what holiday I shall read about.

1. This holiday is celebrated on the 14th of February as a day of love and friendship.

2. People buy presents and cards and send them to their friends and relatives. Parents put presents into stockings. They also decorate streets, rooms and trees.

3. Children usually eat chocolate eggs and Cross Buns on this day.

4. Children make lanterns out of pumpkins, dress as witches and ghosts and go from house to house and say “Trick or treat.”

The third round. “At home”

You can see 5 rooms: a bedroom, a study, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a bathroom

1. In this room there is a table, a mirror, a chest of drawers and beds. We sleep here.

2. In this room there is a table, chairs or armchairs, a sofa, a fireplace, a television and a carpet.

3. In this room there is a desk, chairs, shelves of books, computer

4. In this room you may wash your hands and face, clean your teeth, take a bath or shower.

The fourth round. “Grammar”

Task 1. Tenses

You see the formulas of English Tenses

1. Show me the formula of the Future Simple Tense.

2. Show me the formula of Present Perfect Tense.

3. Show me the formula of Past Simple Tense

Task 2. Modal Verbs

You see the modal verbs. Which of these verbs are used in translation these the following sentences:

1. Не могли бы вы передать мне соль.

2. Можно мне задать вам вопрос?

3. Улицу следует переходить на зеленый свет.

The final

Make as many words as you can out of the word “ SPORTSMAN” (sport, port, or, man , sort, to, ten, rose, nose, stop, pot, most, on , not, pet, more, rest, nest, pen, note, top etc.)

Внеклассное мероприятие «Звездный час» (The Star Hour)

Цель: воспитание культуры общения, повышение интереса к изучению иностранного языка, развитие интерактивных навыков и умений учеников.

Задачи:

- систематизировать и проверить знания учеников по страноведению англо-говорящих стран;

- развивать творческие способности учеников;

- развивать навыки иноязычной коммуникации;

Оборудование: звезды, ноутбук, проектор, презентация, карточки с цифрами от 1 до 6, призы

Ход игры:

(6 человек – учеников – участники, остальные – болельщики)

Ведущий: Glad to meet you, dear boys and girls, guests and teachers! Today we are having a competition «The Star Hour». Now the participants will introduce themselves.

(Участники конкурса должны сказать несколько слов о себе по–английски, прочесть стихотворение наизусть, спеть песню на английском языке, чтобы получить звездочку.)

1 тур «Страноведение»

 Task 1 «Flags»

На доске помещены флаги стран, перечисленных ниже, в такой последовательности:

Учащимся предлагается описание нескольких праздников с тем, чтобы они назвали, о каком из них идет речь.
