Task 1. Choose the right prepositions, put it into the sentence and read it.

Mom saw me ... (off) at the station.

My sister has tried ... (on) many hats to choose one.

We'll be taking part ... (in) sports events from 9 till 12.

  • Ladies and gentlemen! We have many guests and three more guests are here. Let me introduce them. This is Mr. Indefinite. This is Mr. Perfect. And this is Miss Continuous. And here are the teams: Present, Past and Future. Let's meet with our guests.

Teams:

-What's your name?-My name is Present  Indefinite.

-What are you?-I'm a Grammar Inspector.

-Where are you from?-I'm from the Tense town, England.

-Mr. Indefinite, what do you usually do in the morning?- Oh, it's a special question. I usually jump out of bed. There are lots of things to do in the morning. I jump out of bed and this is what I do. I yawn, yawn and yawn in the morning. But now I have some questions to the team "Present":

-What music do you like?- We like rap.

-Really?-Yes, listen to us.

Rap

My first is in history, in English, maths and geography.

My second is in two and one.

It's in the moon but not the sun.

My third lives in Timbuctoo.

In summer it is double.

My fourth is always in a cage.

I know that it's in trouble.

Five is in the question Who, in Why and Where

And How do you do.

Six is in brown and yellow, too

But never there in green and blue.

For seven you can find the answer,

In artist, teacher and ballet dancer.

This riddle's hard but I'm happy to say

My eighth is at the end, OK?

The question is to the team "Past":

  • Did you watch "The new songs about the main things" concert yesterday?- Yes, we did and we liked it very much.

The question to the team "Future":

  • Who is your favourite singer and where will you get his CDs?
  • And now, Mr. Perfect, the question to you from the team "Past". All the rest will pay attention to the tenses Mr. Perfect uses. Be ready to call them.
  • Mr. Perfect, we know that you came to our town yesterday morning. What happened to you after you had come here?

Mr. Perfect: Oh, my dear friends, such an incident happened to me after I had come to your town. After we had landed in the airport we went to the hotel. I remember that the hotel was very nice and comfortable, but we came there and I saw that I had left my bag with the documents in the airport.  So I had to go back to the airport. And after I had found my bag I returned to the hotel, ate  a bit and went to bed.

Task 2 Call the tenses Mr. Perfect has used in his story.

Present Simple: remember

Past Perfect: had come, had landed, had left, had found

Past Simple: happened, went, was, came, saw, had to go, returned, ate, went

  • Mr. Perfect, what's your hobby?
  • My hobby is to complete everything, to finish everything and to have a result. For example, I have closed my book. I have put my book into the bag. I have closed my bag and ...

Miss Continuous: ... And you have left your bag in the airport.

Mr. Perfect: Oh, Miss Continuous, you are a poisonous lady, I'm sorry.

Miss Continuous: Thank you for a compliment.

Mr. Perfect: It's not a  compliment. I mean this.

Mr. Indefinite: Oh, friends, be polite. Stop quarreling, will you? Miss Continuous, now the questions  to you. I see you are tired of doing nothing.

Miss Continuous: How do you do, my dear friends! Call me simply County.

The team Future: Miss County, we know  that Mr. Perfect and Mr. Indefinite are your friends and  you often have interesting talks. What will you be talking about tomorrow?

Miss Continuous: You are right. We are good friends, especially with Mr. Perfect, because we are sometimes meet him in some tenses. Do you know them? (Perfect Continuous). Tomorrow when my friends come to me, we'll be discussing our meeting with you. Or perhaps, we'll be  talking about TV films because I like long continuous films which are lasting for many days, months or even years.

  • Thanks a lot, Miss County. Mr. Perfect, have you got any questions to the teams?

Mr. Perfect: Not questions but a task.

Task 3 Use the structure "I remembered that I had (hadn't) done something". Try to make your sentence as long as possible.

  •  And you, Miss County. What's your task?

Task 4 Miss County: If you don;t mind I want you to use the structure "We are doing something when somebody came"

  • The words are taken from a song by the Beatles. Let's sing it all together. (Song "Yesterday")
  • Some time ago you were given the task to prepare a poem or a song in the tense of your team. So, I hope you are ready/ Let's start from the team "Present".

Poem

On Sunday afternoons in the middle of July

I like sitting in the sun just looking at the sky.

I like listening to the birds singing in the trees - in July.

I hate going to work when the sun shines

Or standing in the rain.

I hate questing at a bus stop,

Or trying to read a paper on a train.

On Cold December mornings I like walking through the snow.

I like watching all the people as off  to work they go.

I like daring in a chair, without a care - in December.

Or rainy April days I just like staying at home.

I like reading a book or simply being alone.

I like thinking of you, and all the things that you do - in April.

But most of all I like loving you.

You are a Sunday afternoon, a December morning too

You are an April day, sunshine in June

You are you.

                                                   ( Song "Yellow submarine")

  • The next team is the team "Past".
  • But we have already sung the song "Yesterday". So, listen to our poem. "We only stayed a few days."

We won't forget that holiday

The worst we ever had.

The hotel was terrible

And the weather was really bad.

We  had a little sunshine

And we had a lot of rain.

We only stayed a few days

And then came home again.

We left the hotel the next afternoon

                                    On the night we arrived.

We got a little bread and water

                                     And the waiter never smiled.

                                     He came to the table

                                    And gave us the bill,

                                    And a few minutes later

                                    I started feeling ill.

We left the hotel the next afternoon

At nearly half past three.

And a few hours later

We arrived at the sea.

We saw a lot of water

And we found         a little sand.

There were a few people sitting

But the others had to stand.

                                   We won't forget that holiday

                                   The worst we ever had.

  • Oh, what a pity! Poor things! Don't give up! Cheer up!
  • And the last team is "Future" with its home task. What have you prepared?
  • A poem and a song.

A poem "Let's have a cup of tea".

At 8 o'clock in the morning

For our breakfast we'll see

Cornflakes and buttered toast

And let's have a cup of tea.

At 4 o'clock in the afternoon

There'll be food for you and me!

Cream cakes and sandwiches

And let's have a cup of tea.

At 7 o'clock in the evening

A lovely supper we'll see.

Chips, peas, and fish-fingers

And let's have a cup of tea.

At 20 o'clock at night

We'll have a piece of bread.

And I'll make a cup of tea

And then we'll go to bed.

(Song "When I'm 64")

The poem "Six honest serving men" (R. Kipling)

I keep six honest serving men

They taught me all I knew

Their names are what and why and when

And haw and where and who

I send them over land and sea

I send them east and west

And after they have worked for me,

I give them all the rest.

I let them rest from nine till five

For I'm busy then

As well as breakfast, lunch and tea

For they are hungry men.

But a person small-

She keeps ten million serving men,

Who get no rest at all.

She sends them abroad on her own affairs

From the second she opens her eyes-

One million HOWs, two million wheres,

And seven millions whys

(Перевод С.Я.

-We want to finish our lesson using one more grammar structure "Let it be".

Учитель: We live in such difficult time. Let you, boys, never take any arms in your hands. Let you, girls, never wait for your boy-friends from any wars.

Let we, your mother, be quiet and calm for you, our children.

Let it be!                                                                            (Песня "Let it be")

Let it be

When I find myself in trouble,

mother Mary comes to me,

speaking words of wisdom, lrt it be.

And in my hour of darkness,

she is standing right in front of me,

speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people,

living in the world agree,

there will be an answer, let it be.

For though they may be parted there is

still a change that way will see,

there will be an answer, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be. Yeah.

There will be an answer, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the night cloudy,

there is still a light that shines on me,

shine on until tomorrow, let it be.

I wake up to the sound of music,

mother Mary comes to me,

speaking words to wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

There will be an answer, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

-This is the end of our party.

-Thank you! Good-bye!
