Good evening, everyone!

How are you today? I hope you’re fine.

It’s so nice to see so many of you here today.

        Let me introduce myself and my student. I’m ….. As for my student, her name is Kate and she is going to be an interpreter for you today, you should ask for her help if you need it.

        The subject of our today’s meeting is an English exam. Basically, this issue is not new for you. I believe, as schoolchildren, the majority of you had to pass it or alternatively were familiar with it. However, the form of the English exam at school has changed lately and is still changing. There are 5 essential parts in the English exam; they are Listening, Reading, Use of English (grammar and vocabulary), Writing  and Speaking. If you look at the 2nd  slide, you can see them listed there.

        Moreover, it is vitally important for everybody since in the year 2022 a school graduate has to pass an English exam as well as Russian and Mathematics to get a secondary school diploma.

        The next slide shows you the levels of English. As you can see, secondary school students are supposed to show their academic performance in the first three levels.

        So today we’re going to give you a chance to become a student again and take a Speaking part of an English exam. (slide 4)

        Will you, please, have a look at slide 5, the Speaking part is usually held with the help of a computer, headphones and a microphone and students are recorded. Are there any volunteers to be recorded?

        Ok.  Now you are the students of school number one in the town of Pokachi. Let’s move on to the exam. (slide 6)

        We’ve got 2 tasks to be done:  

Task #1 (slide 7)

You are going to read the text aloud.  My day/ My Family/ The House You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, and then be ready to read it aloud. Remember that you will not have more than 2 minutes for reading aloud.

Task #2 (slide 8)

You are going to take part in a telephone survey . You have to answer six questions about your school life. Give full answers to the questions. You have 40 seconds to answer a question.

1. What language do you study?
2. What is your favourite subject?
3. What is Mathematics teacher’s name?
4. How many Physical Education lessons a week do you have?
5. What is your school friend’s name?
6. What is the number of your school?

        (slide 9) Now we’ve successfully finished at last. You’ve done perfectly well. My congratulations to you and many thanks for your hard work and participation.
