Если в вводных словах есть глагол to say (сказать), он заменяется на to tell (сказать), если после него следует дополнение, указывающее кому фраза адресуется She says,” I like sweets”. She says that she likes sweets. She says to me, “I like sweets”. She tells me that she likes sweets. Reported speech He says to me, “I know the truth”. He tells me that he knows the truth.

При обращении прямой речи в косвенную в английском языке действует правило согласования времен. Если главное предложение стоит в форме настоящего (Present Simple или Present Perfect) или будущего времени (Future Simple), то глагол в косвенной речи (в придаточном предложении) остается в том же времени, в каком он был в прямой речи. Reported speech He says to me, “I know the truth”. He tells me that he knows the truth.

Вопросы в косвенной речи В косвенной речи вопросы имеют прямой порядок слов, а вопросительный знак в конце предложения заменяется на точку. Общие вопросы вводятся союзами if и whether : I asked, “Have you seen my pen?” I asked him whether / if he had seen my pen. Специальные вопросы вводятся вопросительными словами: He wondered: “Who on earth will buy this junk?” He wondered who on earth would buy that junk. Reported speech He asked, “Where were you yesterday?” He asked where I had been the day before.

Повелительные предложения в косвенной речи Такие предложения используются со словами to say , to tell , to order , to ask , to beg , а глагол в повелительном наклонении изменяется в форму : Mom told me, “Clear your room.” Mom told me to clear my room. He said, “Don’t run in the corridor.” He said not to run in the corridor. Reported speech The teacher told us, “Open your books.” She told us to open our books.
