Аннотация к дидактическому материалу.

        Данный  методический материал рекомендован к использованию на уроках английского языка в 11 классе. Эта тема может быть использована на уроках в качестве краеведческого материала по теме №2 «Steps To Understanding Culture»  учебника английского языка для 11 класса «Rainbow English», авторы О.В. Афанасьева, И.В. Михеева, К.М. Баранова.

Направленность текста:

-усилить культуроведческий и краеведческий аспекты обучения;

- воспитывать уважение к гениям прошлого и их шедеврам;

- развивать любознательность и кругозор.

Part I. Предтекстовые задания.

Try to gess the meaning of these words : the antipode, dramatic images, associate, alien, a hermit, conveyed, the strength of maturity, obsessed, vivid tints, impeccable feeling, radiate, exceptional gentleness, under the arches, humanized, a scroll.

Part II. Текстовые задания.

1)Read the text.

2)Translate the sentences from Russian into English:

1. По складу своего дарования он был антиподом Феофана.

2. Главным в мире Рублева был добрый деятельный человек.

3. Этого человека Рублев воспринимал в образе ангела, святого подвижника.

4.Бог приблизился к человеку, вот почему из икон А.Рублева исчезло все устрашающее.

5. И.Э. Грабарь определяет его как «художника, одержимого красочными исканиями и умеющего не только брать первые, попавшие в голову яркие сочетания, но и объединить их в гармоническое впечатление.»

6. Он любит сильные чистые краски: розово-красные, малахитово-зеленые, лиловые, серебристо-зеленые, золотисто-охряные, темно-зеленые.

7. Напротив иконостаса фрески под сводами хора: композиция «Страшный суд», написанная Андреем Рублевым с Даниилом Черным.

Andrei Rublyov.

Icon painting of  Rublyov and his contemporaries is the event of the greatest raise of Moscow school of icon painting of the fifteenth century.  He owed much to Theophanes the Greek with whom he worked.

Rublyov`s lyrical gift made him the antipode of Theophanes, his famous associate. The latter`s somber, dramatic images were always alien to him. Rublyov had other ideals. Rublyov attached his utmost importance to a man, an active, kindly supportive and ready to help his fellow men. For Rublyov he took a form of an angel, a saint, a hermit. In these images the painter conveyed pure beauty of youth, the strength of maturity, and the wisdom of age.

I.E.  Grabar correctly describes him as «an artist obsessed with a search for colour and capable not only of using the first bright combinations that come to mind, but of uniting them into a harmonious impression». Rublyov likes clear, vivid tints – pinkish-reds, malachite-greens, mauves, silvery-greens, golden ochres, and dark-greens. In his impeccable feeling for colour he is far ahead of his contemporaries. The icons of  Rublyov radiate an aura of exceptional gentleness.

Rublyov`s name is connected with the ancient city of Vladimir on the Klyazma River.

At the highest point of ancient Vladimir is the Assumption Cathedral (1158-1189. It was built by craftsmen of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.

In 1408 the Assumption Cathedral was decorated with paintings sent from Moscow by the brilliant artist Andrei Rublyov, who worked in the technique of frescoes. His frescoes are preserved in Zvenigorod, Sergiev Posad, but the largest collection of them here, in the Assumption Cathedral.

Opposite the iconostasis-frescoes under the arches of the choir: the composition of "The Last judgment", written by Andrei Rublyov with Daniel Black(1408). "For the first time in the history of painting in Russia, the last judgment is presented as the Kingdom of the righteous, the beginning of a world in which there is no place for tragedy. It is a world United by the consciousness of brotherhood and love." Right and left are the apostles. They talk to each other at ease, sitting on benches. Behind them are choirs of angels. Above the heads of the apostles - the image of Christ. Angels turn heaven into a scroll. Above the image of Christ-the scene "The Throne prepared" with standing figures of the virgin and John the Baptist. Closer to the iconostasis is the composition "Vision of Daniel",onthe opposite column- "Righteous wives". On two pillars – trumpeting angels.

To Rublyov God is not the terrifying, mysterious, blind and merciless force he was to the ordinary medieval mind. Rublyov humanized God and made him seem closer to the world.  His Christ, his Paul, his archangels are endowed with an irresistible charm, a gentleness in which there is no trace of Byzantine severity.

At the entrance to the southern gallery is to turn around to see the composition "The Procession of the righteous in Paradise": Peter gesture "сalls to follow him doubting the righteous."

Fresco's "Paradise or Abraham's bosom, " written with the participation of Daniel Black. In Paradise, the figure of  a prudent robber and forefathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, surrounded by marvelous plants.
