Тема: «The USA», урок-обобщение.

Цель: закрепить лексический материал по теме, развивать навыки говорения.

Задачи:

Образовательные:  

1. Закрепить лексический материал по теме “The USA”.
2. Развивать навыки говорения путем опроса, участия в беседе.

Воспитательные: совершенствование духовно-нравственных качеств личности,  развитие мотива учебной деятельности, формирование личностного смысла учения, развитие навыков сотрудничества

Развивающие: развивать речь, память, воображение учащихся.

Форма урока: комбинированный урок.

Методы: фронтальный устный опрос, упражнения.

Приемы: вовлечение в интересную деятельность, хоровое проговаривание.

Оформление: меловое оформление доски.

I. Начало урока. Рапорт дежурного.

T: Dear students! Today we will prepare for an interesting and exiting traveling to a very large English-speaking country. Which country is this song from? Listen to the song and guess the name of this country. Why do we think so?

 (Звучит песня “Yankee Doodle”)

Yankee Doodle went to town,

A-riding on a pony;

Stuck a feather in his hat

And called it macaroni.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up,

Yankee Doodle dandy;

Mind the music and the step

And with the girls be handy.

Yes, it is an old American song. It is now the national anthem of the American state Connecticut.

The topic of our lesson is: “Travelling to America”.

T: Do you like to travel? What can you tell me about travelling? (Слайд3)

Travelling is…

• …a possibility to communicate with people from other countries.
• …a way to visit places of interest and to feel greatness of monuments of the world history and art.

Tourism is very popular all over the world that is why people began to establish different companies for comfortable travelling.  

Which ways of travelling do you prefer? Why?  Use active words.

2.Чтение информации о символах США. (Слайд8)

The flag of the USA is often called “The Stars and Stripes”. There are 50 stars on it: one for each state.

The flag has 13 stripes. There are 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes: one stripe for each of the first 13 colonies of the USA.

 The eagle became the official national symbol of the country in 1782. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows (symbols of strength). You can see the eagle on the back of the dollar bill.

One of the most famous symbols of the USA is the Statue of Liberty. France gave the statue to America in 1884 as a symbol of friendship. The Statue is in New York on Liberty Island.

“Uncle Sam” is a cartoon symbol of the American Government. He has appeared in magazines and newspapers for last 150 years. In 1812 Samuel Wilson sold meat to US Army. Everybody called him Uncle Sam. The first letters of his name US were the same as the first letters of the United States.

4.Чтение информации о штатах США.  

Используются сведения из Интернета.

Now read the Internet information and count the states. (Приложение 2)

There are 51 states there.

Name the largest states and give the transcription to the names.

V. Знакомство с политическим устройством США.

The United States has two main political parties: the Democrats (the Donkey) and the Republicans ( the Elephant ).(Слайд 17)

   There are other political parties too, but they play little if any role.  

How to become  President of the USA. (Слайд 18)

To become a US President you must…

• be 35 or older;
• be a US citizen born in the USA;
• have lived in the USA at least 14 years.

You can only serve two terms.

T: Answer my question. Can anybody of us be selected as a new President of the USA? Why?

P: We were not born in the USA.

T: Who was the first president of the USA? (Слайд 19) How many presidents can we see in the picture?

VI.Знакомство с праздниками США.

On July 4th 1776 the United States became independent  from England.

On this day the Declaration of Independence was signed. It is a national public holiday celebrated with parades, patriotic music, public  meetings and speech- making. There are picnics and barbecues, and in the evening there are big firework shows.
