Цель: развить речевую компетенцию учащихся, обучить элементам дискуссии

Задачи:

Обучающие: познакомить с некоторыми необычными гаджетами;

Развивающие: развивать кругозор учащихся, развивать способности к распределению внимания, к догадке, к анализу и синтезу; стимулировать навыки критического мышления и самостоятельного осмысления полученной информации;

Практические: активизировать знания, умения и навыки учащихся по теме; развивать умение работать с текстом; учить логически строить высказывание на основе прочитанной и переработанной информации;

Воспитательные: создать возможность для проявления индивидуальных способностей учащихся; воспитание потребности в получении знаний о мировой культуре и истории.

“I couldn't live without my earbuds. I use them all the time. My model is equipped with built-in microphones and controls for hands-free use. I like this option so much! My hometown is quite far from my university, so on the bus journey it’s really handy being able to put on my earbuds and enjoy all those entertainment options. I like the fact that they block out ambient^[1] noise in noisy environments. All of my friends have earbuds. Earbuds are highly portable and, therefore, even fit in the pocket of my jeans. My elder sister thinks that I use them too much. She says that dependence on earbuds could cause discomfort when interacting with others. In some way she is absolutely right. Earbuds can also be distracting during important activities, so I avoid using them when I need to be fully alert and aware. Sure, I don’t use them during the lectures. Earbuds are made of hard plastic, and to reduce outside noise, most people press them into their ears, which leads to ear pain. I never do this. Earbuds require frequent updates and charging since they are reliant^[2] on technology. It's important to keep up with maintenance to ensure they continue working properly.”  Kate

“I couldn't imagine my life without my smartphone. That’s because my smartphone does everything. I guess no one these days can survive without their smartphone. I need a smartphone to get in touch with my friends or relatives. It really facilitates^[3] connectivity with loved ones regardless of location. My smartphone has got good high-speed mobile broadband, so when I’m travelling or waiting for someone, I use it to access the Internet to kill the time. My phone is a great source of entertainment through music, videos, and games. With various apps and tools available, my phone enhances^[4] my productivity at school and in life. Nowadays smartphones come equipped with GPS tracking and emergency contact options for added safety – it’s really great. My mum was against buying me a smartphone because it was quite an expensive purchase. Now my mum is concerned that I use it too much and overusing the phone could lead to addiction and dependence on it. Besides, she thinks that smartphones are dangerous for health. The rays may cause headaches and even more dangerous diseases. Also, she says that late night chats and playing games on my phone in bright screen can cause vision problems, neck pain, and sleep disruptions. I don't believe her. For me, my phone is really invaluable.”
